Remote volume control for preamp?
+1 PlacetteGo with the Placette! and you might sell your preamp. It's amaazing how good these passive (and Active) preamps are! If you don't like it you will be able to sell it for close to what you paid!
What dynamic spkr. did you go to from electrostat?
Chadnliz: ;-)
What dynamic spkr. did you go to from electrostat?
Chadnliz: in response to your Maggies are not electrostats.. Duhhh... but the speed and air that the true ribbon provides is very similar and both are mid bass shy and can't attack loudly.. I'll add I owned ML Sequel's .. ok are you happy?JaFox: I...
How to purchase a Wilson Tweeters
Porziob: +1 I agree, the crossovers are designed around the drivers. The the Maxx II and WP 8 received upgraded drivers and upgraded crossovers!Otherwise there would have been an upgrade for WP7's owners to the new tweeter but sadly there isn't.
Wilson Maxx and Maxx II Differences ?
The Maxx II offers a more natural top end; sweater and smoother with amazing dynamics. I have heard the Maxx II's and the originals and I wouldn't upgrade from my WP7's to Maxx I's. I would do Maxx II's in a heartbeat as they provide everything I ...
What dynamic spkr. did you go to from electrostat?
Went from Magnepan IIIa's to NHT 3.3 (missed the top end sweatness, but got addicted to tight solid bass) to Wilson Watt Puppy 7's. If you like the quickness and air but want the mid and low bass to be as fast and as controlled then Go listen to s...
Music Reference vs. Quicksilver
Music Reference gear is pretty bulletproof and great sounding plus with the RM-10 tubes last up to 10,000 hrs....The Quick Silvers are going to be more colored. If you need to do lower impedences go Music Reference.I've owned RM9's and an RM200's ...
Trying to extract more from my Vandersteen
It's already been said but I would agree with#1 accoustic treatments (Corners and first order reflection points) and speaker positioning are probably the cheapest upgrades!#2 Agree with Albert that cabling is not going to fix the problem... The MI...
Naim x Ayre
I can only speak on the Wilson Matching based on listening experience. If you go Wilson get the Ayre Components as they match very well.My Friend has the Naim CDX2 (without the XPS2)and it leaps and bounds better than the lower Naim Models. In my e...
Suggest a preamp please
Unsound: I'll second the recommendation (Tact 2.0s or Tact 2.2x) just get a powersupply upgrade.
DLP lamps
Yada: How many watts does your 50" Samsung DLP pull? My Optoma projector pulled over 280watts and it shut my Powerplant down... I had heard the same thing about giving the PJ or Display perfectly regenerated regulated power increased bulb (or at l...
digital output crackling
Check your connections you should be running from the COAX digital output on the CD player to the COAX Digital input on the DAC.. A digital Coax cable is 75ohm versus an analog 50ohm cable. but either way you can't mix connections. If you are swapi...
digital output crackling
You DAC could be a high output (more than 2volts) and could be overdriving your Preamp (especially if you have a tube preamp). Check the input volt specs on your preamp and contact the DAC vendor to see what the output is...
Concerto peramp vs. Synergy IIi
Synergy IIi has the external Powersupply which lowers the noisefloor and supports powering the phono preamp or being run off of batteries. I don't think you would error either way. I owned the Synergy IIi and it is an incredible preamp... awesome ...
DLP lamps
my friend also bought a toshiba DLP (late last year) and in the first 20hrs the bulb failed... Computers/Electronics typically fail in the first 30days and then work after that point. I've owned 2 toshiba big screens and both required large $$$$ s...
