Which tubes for Wavac MD805m
I don't think you can go wrong with either one. At one time, I had used both but that was in my preamp and either will deliver excellent quality sound. The Telefunken seemed to have sweeter high's, but both produce excellent mid range sonics. Nos ...
Which tubes for Wavac MD805m
I don't own a Wavac but just know that all of these tubes have different gain factors and are not exactly interchangeable. For example, a lower gain tube can be placed in a circuit made for higher gain tubes, but you wouldn't be able to place the ...

Sounds like you've had this amp for a while. If you only hear the noise (microphonics) because you intentionally rapped the side of the amplifier, I would do nothing. If you hear it while the amplifier is sitting quietly, absent of any external fo...

Service or Replace ARC D90 Amp
You might want to consider having it upgraded by someone other than ARC. If you are interested in just inquiring, Great Northern Sound Co. is a reputable company and can perform such upgrades, maybe for less money. Worth looking into!!http://www.g...
whats the difference?
Truthfully if you aren't hearing anything that is a good thing because you don't want the RG 400 to color the signal. If anything, most people hear a lower noise floor or expanded soundstage or increased dynamics.

Maybe this will help, Audio Review website has 29 reviews from owners of this amp.http://www.audioreview.com/mfr/audio-research/MPR_589crx.aspx
bass distortion - dirty pots?
I have the same speakers driven by a Harman Kardon receiver rated at 80 wpc, which I think is more powerful than your Onkyo. Anyway, while I don't really have any distortion, it is a difficult speaker to drive even though the specs for the speaker...
Speaker noise - hissing
Are you referring to a 50 watt power amp or integrated? You didn't mention whether you have a tubed preamp which would be the first source I would investigate.
