How to determine Preamp "Power"? VTL 5.5 vs BAT SE
Instead of changing equipment, consider adding a powered subwoofer to your setup?
How to determine Preamp "Power"? VTL 5.5 vs BAT SE
The innards of the power amp such as capacitors etc, is what is going to determine the bass output capabilities, not the tube type. There are plenty of KT88 amps with minimal low frequency slam.
To use a line conditioner/surge protector or not??
I use a Furman IT15 and it has saved my gear also. I don't find that it colors the sound of any of my electronics either. It sounds to me that your equipment is vulnerable with your current setup. I would consider using the IT Ref 20 again or unpl...
External Crossover?
cann be done, but it will probably void your warranty, if you still have one.
IEC Adapter
Narrod, try dedicated audio. I think they have what you are looking for.http://www.dedicatedaudio.com/adapters
Problem when volume turn up
Samaba, adjusting the preamp channel controls is really just a balancing act (no pun intended) but it doesn't solve your problem, it only allows you to turn the volume contol further to the right because you decreased the signals to the channels. ...
rogue audio m150 owners
Chrissain, when I had my Rogue Stereo 90, I switched from EH KT88's to SED KT88's. While the EH is a good sounding tube, I think the SED betters it from top to bottom and especially in the midrange. They are also more expensive than the EH KT88's ...
Voltage matching issue causing a hum?
Instead of using the DAC out to go into the preamp, try using the line out from the Yulong to the preamp.
Problem when volume turn up
Does this occur after playing it for a while or as soon as you turn it on? I am just guessing here, but it sounds like it is going into some sort of thermal overload and is shutting itself down!
My favorite Steely Dan song has to be...
They have so many great songs, for me, the one that evokes the most memories is Rikki don't lose that number.

Solid state amp/Tube Preamp. Possible?
TVAD, I wasn't disputing your point and certainly not John Atkinsons measurements regarding impedance. In my experience, I've have never had a problem matching components. Nowhere in my post did I imply that you should ignore matching the impedanc...
Should an audio system be left on at all times?
Maybe if it's solid state, I wouldn't if it is tubed equipment, why waste the life of the tubes? I never understood what the advantage was to leaving it on. I have tubed equipment that I turn on about an hour before I want to listen to music, that...
Bi wire cable recommendations for Marten Dukes
I just switched from Cardas to the much less expensive Anticables. I purchased 2 stereo sets of Anticables so that I could Bi Wire to my speakers, because they do not sell a Bi wired set. I wish that I would have done this a long time ago and save...
Solid state amp/Tube Preamp. Possible?
My first tubed component was a preamp matched to a solid state amp and it was not a problem. Matching the impedance as listed in some other posts is usually not a problem either. I also think that if you are going to move towards tubes, you are he...
