Record collecting versus hoarding
I don’t have a lot of LPs any more, and don’t intend to add many, but I do have some and an old Sansui turntable with an Audio Technica cartridge... works well enough. I like to flip through them, and they’re rather inconspicuous in the bottom of ...
I’m about to push the button to get 2 SVS 3000 micros to add to ATC SCM40s.
You can just turn down the volume of the subs a bit on TV / movie nights... no need to rattle the dinnerware... and still get that bit of extra kick.   Most people turn their subs up too high so they can "hear" them, but the best sub tuning is "y...

+1 @fstein "you would be shocked at how good "mid-fi" has gotten in the last 20 years"
Blu Ray player versus CD/SACD player.
I don't think that a new sacd player is going to get you much better, if any, perceptible sound quality than your Oppo, but I could be wrong, and plus your Oppo doubles as a good bluray player.  I reported above my positive experiences with "lesse...

@pedroeb "I consider Youtube reviews to be irrelevant opinionated egotistical jackass garbage." Hm, but I guess your opinion here is stellar. And, btw, Amir is all over YouTube as well... thus, so much for your theory.  lol.

@dawg007 "I'm not looking for hearing aids..."  I do understand that was not the question in your post.  That said, if your wife is hard of hearing, why not?  She might be forever grateful, given a good set, beyond the TV watching...  But, that'...
Blu Ray player versus CD/SACD player.
How many SACDs do you actually have?  Are you really going to get more?  Is it time to turn to Tidal, instead, and just keep the functional Oppo? Think about that...   An inexpensive thing to try would be to get an inexpensive CD player, say a Ya...

I like what he's doing.  I've heard some relatively inexpensive gear that challenges much, much more expensive gear... so my own niche in audioland has been and remains practical gear that overperforms its pricepoint.  Thus, I hear where the man ...
Hard of hearing
@stringreen well... unless they BRING BACK good hearing, which is what they did for me. I had no idea what I had been missing, for twenty years or more. I am hearing better now than I have for at least twenty years... I’m 60 now, and I don’t rem...
Technics sr u 1000 ... vs Accuphase e-480
@nonoise @erik_squires  @charles1dad  Thank you all so far... I’m not as worried about resale potential because I’m looking for a "be done" amp now... I’ve never been a swapper outer really, though I’ve done enough to know that I prefer new am...

@fbgbill +1 @r_pig  +1  Phonak Audeo Paradise has a specific TV accessory.  And, the Widex Moment are noted as "musicians' choice" and are used even in recording studios sessions.   And what r_pig says about getting aids sooner rather than lat...
Hard of hearing
The best new hearing aids, in addition to being customizable to one's personal hearing profile, also include bluetooth connectivity... The Phonak Audeo Paradise also has a specific TV broadcast device that further enhances direct to the aid.
