A warm and rich sounding power cord
Acoustic Zen Tsunami has worked great on my P.S. Audio P300. I tried a Synergistic Research AC Master Coupler, but I think that the AZ made more of a difference--an improvement. In fact, I was really surprised by the difference. Tweak on!
Girlfriends and wifes, how do YOU cope?
Hey, anybody know that Albert Collins song, "Master Charge?" It's on "Ice Pickin'" Okay? Nuff said. Buy the Jota!
Thoughts on the new Mapleshade
I'm gonna try the speaker cable tripods. They look rustic and high-tech at the same time. We'll hear!
Two of your best audiophile Blues CD's ?
Melvin Taylor's "Dirty Pool" and Popa Chubby's "Booty and the Beast." The former is an HDCD; the later is just a well recorded blue-rock cd. Also, note the Freddy King hommage!
Music for "Tough Times"
Coltrane's "A Love Supreme." Hey, Jshumatejr, thanks for picking JLW!!!
Who is your overall favorite guitarist?
Buddy Guy. Sorry, he's it! What?
cable suggestions for new system
Anything silver for sources (AZ, Analysis Plus, Kimber); Copper for analog. Speakers: I like AP; but I'm thinking a lot about AZ Satori with some Mapleshades jumpers. BTW, congrats on your sys; sounds very hipological!!!! Regards!
B&W 7NT vs. Paradigm reference 80 for plinius mkII
I second the vote for Soliloquy 5.3s. I once a/b'd some B&W 7NTs and the Paradigmg 80s. You know what? I went with the Soliloquy 5.3s. They are much more open and musical than either of the other two choices. My tuppence.
Name three of yours the most favourite drummers
I'm givin' ya three more: Jack DeJohnette, Carl Allen, Art Blakey.
Name three of yours the most favourite drummers
OKAY!!!! I'm gonna name 3 more JAZZ CATS! Jimmy Cobb (stone groove), Art Taylor (more of same), and Roy Haynes (there from the beginnings of bop and beyond).
Art Blakey/Jazz Messengers
WHO'S YOUR FAVE MESSENGERS? I really like the lee morgan stuff, too. However, believe it or else, my favorite iteration of the Messengers is with Terrence Blanchard, Donald Harrison, Jean Tousaint, Mulgrew Miller, and Lonnie Plaxico. What hard-hit...
Name three of yours the most favourite drummers
Come on!!! Where are the jazz cats??? Jeff "Tain" Watts, Elvin Jones (mostly during the Trane era), Paul Motian!
Who is your overall favorite guitarist?
Kevin Eubanks, but only his first album on Electra Musician. This is some fresh sounding jazz, especially Monk's "Evidence"--very slick arrangement. I think that you can only get this on vinyl . . .
PS Audio's Ultimate Outlet
Forget the UO; go for the P300! I mean, if you think about it, your source components are the ones that really need the conditioning because, presumably, these things are "broadcasting" the signals from downstream; the amp will just amplifier what...
Hammond b-3 organ
Of course, Jimmy Smith is synonomous with the B3, but don't forget Brother Jack McDuff and Charles Erland. In fact, any time you get a chance to see a "B3 group," take it. You won't be disappointed!
