Nordost Blue Heaven
Anybody ever compare these to Anti-Cables? And is the sale still on - can't seem to find it on their site...
Unipivot and suspended TT?
I'm using a Graham 1.5tc/2.2 tonearm on a Gyro (similar hung suspension system to the Oracle), and it sounds fantastic.I think the issue with unipivots on suspended tables is generally considered to affect the suspended from underneath (ie LP12) s...
Pathos logos strong enough to drive winds?
I don't have Winds, but with the Totem Hawks, I found that Bryston equipment didn't bring out the best. The sound was a little on the grating side, whether it be vinyl or CD. Mind you, I had a 3BST at the time. That being said, I did hear the Wind...
Ayre C-5xe vs Ayre C-7xe??
Just wanted to jump in here...I used to have a 506.24 and now have a C7xe. The presentations of the 2 players are polar opposites - the 506.24 is a laid back, calm, slow presentation which glosses over detail in order to present a smooth end resul...
VIP, SOTA & Oracle Turntables
Oh, and to answer the actual question, any Delphi can be updated to present specs (Mk. V) - the newer it is, the less expensive the updates. But the most expensive update is the Mk. V motor/plinth combo @ ~$1.5K. That one is really only necessary ...
VIP, SOTA & Oracle Turntables
I've not heard a SOTA, but have heard Oracle Delphi's of various vintages, VPI Scout-series and HW-19 series tables. The Delphi is much more to my liking than the VPI's due to its more lively/involving presentation.
SME 10 or Aries 3 with SME IV
Having heard SME arms on Oracle V's, and having heard an Aries 3 (but with a VPI arm of course), my feeling is that an SME arm on an Aries might not be the best match. They both seem to be on the "black background" side of things, which might be t...
Ayre CX7e win Hydra 2
I have been very happy with the Audience powerChord on my CX-7e (mind you I'm using a PS Audio Power Plant and not a Shunyata Hydra as my power conditioner). I previously used the bottom-of-the-line Shunyata Venom cable and it didn't do the job - ...
Moon impressions
Not to get too far off-topic, but the CD-1 was the first CDP by Simaudio to use what they claim to be their own transport, right down to the software. The only other CDP that they have made based on this new architecture is the new CD-3.3, so that...
New phono preamp or tonearm?
Don't know too much about the ARC phonos, but from everything I've read they seem to be top-notch.I would presume that a better tonearm will be a noticeable improvement. A few years back, I tried a Michell Gyro first with a Tecnoarm and Benz M2, b...
PS Audio Premier / Statement SC power cable
I've experimented with different power cords on different components, and have found that the bigger PS Audio cords are better on amplification than on source components. As such, I like them with my amp and on a Power Plant, but like Mjmch find t...
Simaudio I5 to separates?
So an update after playing around a bit with power chords and speaker placement:First off, my feeling that the problem was related to amplification has to do with the fact that when there's additional mid-bass energy, it can be due to a lack of po...
Will a DAC drastically improve Apple TV?
I once had a Bel Canto Dac1, and its sound was fantastic, far better than an Apple TV's analog outputs. I'd say that a Dac2 is a very safe bet to be noticeably better than no dac at all. It'll also hold its resale value.FYI, the Bel Canto is a bit...
What is the best amp for Sonus Faber Cremonas?
I heard the Cremonas powered by the Ayre V-5xe at the Festival Son & Image in Montreal last year, and the sound was fabulous, among the best rooms at the show.
Simaudio I5 to separates?
Thanks for the input, keep it coming. Am particularly interested in any comments from those who have had an I5 in the past and moved on to something that they like better. To address a few of the comments made so far...At the moment I'm looking mos...
