DeVore Orangutan O/96
I listened to the Orangutans at Montreal this weekend. The Montreal show, for those who are unaware, tends to be dealer-driven, which means that it's not so much a "DeVore" room, as a Devore/Leben room with a Brinkmann turntable. For several years...
Musical Fidelity A5, Simaudio I-5 or Krell s300i
Some years ago, I compared a Simaudio I5 to a Musical Fidelity A5 - I bought the I5. The Musical Fidelity was on the clinical side of things relative to the Sim. In fact, in that same session, I also auditioned the Naim Nait 5i, which was far chea...
Verity Audio Amadis Owners, Listener Impressions?
Reading that comment from Stereophile, I know which room that was (since Verity speakers all pretty much look the same, I sometimes don't know which one I'm listening to). It was a bigger room than most others, but not that large in absolute terms...
I NEED YOUR HELP with a turntable purchase
I like the Oracle Delphi Mk VI with a Graham Phantom arm that I've heard with a Zyx Universe cart...it's on the lower end of the stated budget, but sounds fantastic to my ears.
Verity Audio Amadis Owners, Listener Impressions?
For this much $$$, I'd wait...a few months is nothing compared to a lifetime of listening! When I did my search, I took several months and listened to everything available in my area, listening to most of my favourites more than once. The speaker ...
Verity Audio Amadis Owners, Listener Impressions?
I've not knowingly heard a pair of Amadis, but , but might be able to add a bit of perspective anyways as I have Parsifal Encore's. Before purchasing the Parsifals, I listened to the Finn and Rienzi as well. My feeling was that the Finn didn't qui...
The best speaker you ever heard?
Best I've heard is, I think, the Focal Grande Utopia at an audio show a few years back. I've heard other megabuck speakers (Kef, Cabasse), but they didn't have quite the scale or combination of effortless flow and excitement of the Grande Utopia. ...
VPI Classic Finish
I remember interior designers telling me that natural wood tones go well together...so I'd presume that walnut would go better with other wood tones than black would.
Gyrodec w/ 2 Arms?
I remember seeing pictures of the Gyro SE Mk II with 2 arms. The 2nd arm gets placed where the motor housing normally sits and the motor moves to the front-left of the table. This is from memory, and I don't know what has to be done to the table t...
Speakers for Leben CS 300XS
When I've heard Leben and Devore together on several occasions, I've had to stop myself from reaching for the credit card. They sound sublime together.
Totem... Bass?
Hawks have very good bass IMHO...the Totem's that lack in bass quantity are Arro floorstanders as well as the bookshelves other than the Mani-2. The rest of the Totem speakers that I've heard have no problem in terms of bass quantity.FYI, the SHL5...
Personal speaker evolution
Ignoring all "boom box" type things, here's my evolution:PSB Alpha's (the original version from the early-mid 90's purchased in my late-teens)PSB Stratus BronzeTotem ArroTotem HawkVerity Audio Parsifal EncoreSo it's a short list...I tend to get at...
Best speakers for my system
I'm a bit late in response, but I can't add anything about Ckoffend's question about D38R with Levinson electronics. I was simply listing brands of speakers that I've heard in the OP's price range, that would fit his (not so limiting) requirements...
Cremona m vs sophia 2
These are 2 completely different sounding speakers with completely different presentations. The Cremona's have a great midrange which makes vocals very poignant, but "detailed lows" (as well as speaker preference in general) is a personal thing an...
Best speakers for my system
I'd say you need to go to lots of different dealers and listen to lots of different speakers. Your needs do not really rule much out (other than panel speakers due to the low ceiling), so you need to figure out what you like. Some stuff to listen ...
