The ''hole'' problem
I believe you are looking for a reamer. It looks like a conical drill bit with handle T-boned on the end. Unlike a drill bit, a reamer has it's cutting edges on the sides. Go slow as you may remove too much material. Good luck.
Atlantis Reference racks - opinions?
Thanks folks. From all that I have heard the Sistrum is indeed a great rack but once you translate the $US into the monopoly money I have to use to pay for it the cost rises to around $2500CDN and this with a favourable exchange rate for the momen...
Tube myths Joint Army Navy vs Non Joint Army Navy
I can't understand why in this day and age there isn't a manufacturer of new tubes that can manufacture tubes that the audiophile community would want. With the ridiculous amounts of money we are willing to spend to get every last note out of our ...
Advice on Totem model ones
If you like the sound of the mini-monitors and want some more bass then you will absolutely love the Studio 40's. Your amp is a little on the light side power wise but still very workable. Go for an audition and compare the mini-monitors which you...
Paradigm ref100's and Odyssey Stratos?
Don't forget that most subs need some breakin before they start sounding anywhere near good.I hooked my sub back up to the Line 1 today with two cable runs to the low level inputs. I have set the frequency cut off to just over 50 Hz. I was getting...
Tubes with Paradigm Reference 100??
The 100's are probably more correctly a 6Ω load and drops to just below 4Ω in the bass region. I would suggest to email Paradigms tech support or ask a knowledgeable dealer for their recommendations or even demo a tube amp at your dealer's on a pa...
Paradigm Reference Studio vs. B&W N804
Paradigm bought Sonic Frontiers who manufactured high end tube gear like my Line 1 line stage. Anthem was a "value" line spawned from Sonic. Sonic Frontiers has quit manufacturing their tube gear for over a year now and the Sonic Frontiers line ha...
Paradigm Reference Studio vs. B&W N804
Yes, I'm a Canadian and yes, I too love my Paradigm 100's. I compared with B&W's before I bought my Paradigms. The Pardigms just had a feeling of rightness to them that the B&W's lacked in my opinion. In all fairness the two speaker sets w...
Paradigm ref100's and Odyssey Stratos?
I have the 100's with a Line 1 and an Anthem MCA-20 and a Musical Fidelity A3 CD. Bass is definitely very good for rock. Good cabling is a must as is a high current amp. I am not familiar with the Stratos amp. The Anthem amp might be the weak link...
10 sonically best rock recordings ?
An interesting one I picked up recently is "The Pink Fairies - NeverNeverLand" (Polydor 589 550-2). Digitally remastered last year with the inclusion of four bonus tracks, the most interesting of which is an early version of "Uncle Harry's Last Fr...
B&W 7NT vs. Paradigm reference 80 for plinius mkII
I have to agree that a good high current amp makes all the difference with the Paradigms. They just keep sounding better as you upgrade your front end electronics. Also, buy the ones with the real wood veneer! I didn't and am sorry for that. Look ...
B&W 7NT vs. Paradigm reference 80 for plinius mkII
I bought the Studio 100's after comparing them to (among others) the B&W's. I preferred the Paradigms especially for the bass. Paradigms are also great for Jazz but not as good as say Maggies for classical. Take a couple of your favourite CDs ...
ICs and Cables to match Paradigm Studio 100 v2s
I also have the Paradigm Studio 100v2. Sonic Frontiers Line 1 pre and Anthem MCA 20 amp. I am using the Virtual Dynamics Audition cable package (3 PC's, 2 IC's, and a pair of biwired speaker cable WBT banana ends). I am very happy with this set up...
What's the most important speaker attribute...and
The most important aspect is that you like the sound of them and can listen to them for long periods. Flat frequency response over as wide a range of frequencies is important also. Look for bass extension to at least 40 Hz. Decent speakers and goo...
Anthem AVM2 vs AVM20
As I understand it the AVM20 has far superior DAC's and other improtant incremental features than the AVM2. I have heard the 20 at the dealers and was very impressed with it.
