Amp for Paradgim Studio 100
I was at my friend's over the weekend and heard his JMLab Electra 936's powered by a pair of Meridian monoblocks. I have decided that I'm going to have to upgrade my Anthem amp at some point if I want that slam. Still not a bad amp to have on the ...
Are Virtual dynamics speaker cables worth the $$$
I have a 10' biwire set of their Audition cables. Terminated with banana plugs. I find the cable generally good in many respects but these are my major faults in them:Too much bass emphasis and too much treble roll off. If you were looking to tune...
Virtual Dynamics Power 3 V.S. MIT Z cord II???
I had the power 3's for a while but traded up to the Audition power cables which were much better. The 3's I found to be too bass heavy in my system and rolled off the highs too much.
Studio 100's need preamp/amp . Sunfire or NAD?
It comes down to budget as to what stores can stock. Paradigm/ Anthem (Paradigm is the parent company of Anthem) can't afford to give demo gear away on spec. I have heard that the TLP 1 is a decent piece of equipment given it's relatively low pric...
Starting a classical library is BMG an answer?
No,BMG keeps sending me unsoliceted emails. They should be made to walk the plank.Check out the Naxos label at your local CD shop. There are some decent recordings there and all are value priced.
Studio 100's need preamp/amp . Sunfire or NAD?
I'm using an Athem MCA 20 and a Sonic Frontiers Line 1 tube preamp with my Studio 100's. Like it very much. The Line 1 is no longer available new but comes up on Agon from time to time. That's how I got mine.
connection to use between anthemavm20 and cd1
If you use the digital out on the CD you will bypass the tubes. They are used in the analog stage in much the same way that transistors would have been used. My suggestion would be to try the analog outputs into your AVM20 and then try the digital...
PS Audio vs Bel Canto vs Musical Fidelity shootout
Socrates,Thanks for you response. I was looking for a relatively inexpensive way of upgrading my digital end. Thought that this coupled with my A3 CD would have been the answer. Perhaps I'll look at the Classe CDP-10. Been hearing nothing but good...
PS Audio vs Bel Canto vs Musical Fidelity shootout
Socrates,What's your opinion on the A3 24 DAC? I am considering adding one to my MF A3 CD player. Have you compared this to other DACs in the same price range?Great thourough review by the way.
A question about Anthem amps?
How many speakers are you looking to drive with this amp? The MCA-30/3 are three channel amps. If budget is your concern I would consider getting a better amp and doing the front L-R with the good amp and using your (I'm assuming) receiver to powe...
Upgrade my integrated or use it as a pre?
Depending on how far up the foodchain you go on a new amp I don't think that the difference might necessarily be a slap you in the face kind of difference. Many changes in audio are subtle like extended frequency response, more airy highs, warm mi...
Upgrade my integrated or use it as a pre?
You could upgrade the amp for now, use the intergrated as a pre and buy a nice pre when you have the coin. Just my 2.
A question about Anthem amps?
The 165 is enough for your speakers but I think you would be happier with the MCA 30. Much better design and more available current which is what Paradigms like. Decent value for the money.
best amp for studio 80
I'm using the MCA 20 with my Studio 100's and am quite happy with it. I would probably be happier with the 4B-SST or one of the other big name high current amps (Moon, Clase, etc). But for the money it is hard to beat the Anthem. The Bryston costs ...
What amp for Paradigm Studio 60 v.2?
The Bryston stuff is very good as they say, it all depends on what price you are willing to pay.Fish,I am still using my old surround receiver with L-R pass through on my Line 1 pre. The receiver powers only the center channel and the rears. Works...
