Did I damage my speakers?
J, keep in mind a more powerful amp is LESS likely to damage your speakers (by making clipping less likely).  So when you "pushed" the speakers into the 80db range you were only drawing one watt or so of power, regardless of which amp was used.  S...
Seller ants my credit card info
Might as well give out your social security and birthdate while you are at it!Seriously, why would you ever consider doing business with someone asking something like this--even if it were a GREAT deal?
transistor pre with the sound of tubes
If the budget is tight, wonder if the Belles Aria pre would suite you.  I understand it has an expansive sound stage like tube--but harmonically may be more neutral than "tubey"
So Hard to Decide on an Amp
You could end up with worse sound you know.  You really need to have clear objectives and if you are not unhappy with your integrated--keep it. "More detail" can come at a price--hard, clinical sound if you are not careful.  I once did exactly wha...
Dust
Actually, heatsinks and other components that run hot are impacted by dust which is like a wool coat to a transistor.  Not a good thing.  I have always covered my gear with DIY black synthetic fleece covers.
CHALLENGE: Best speakers for playing 1812 Overture by Eric Kunzel with real CANON at 92+dB
The obvious choice--Tekton's 1812 of course.
AVA Van Alstine SET 400 amplifier -- burn in?
@hilde45 Forgive my haste.  I actually auditioned the  FET Valve 400 amp, a step above the SET 400.  Good luck, look forward to your impressions.
AVA Van Alstine SET 400 amplifier -- burn in?
@hilde45   Years ago I auditioned this amp.  I paired it with Magnepan 1.7's.  On paper I thought this would be a perfect match.  During the 100 or so hours I listened, it's character did not change much.  I found it a bit flat and lacking in bass...
Sending a 110 lb amp to the manufacturer for cleaning/calibration. Good idea? How to ship?
Think of those circuit boards, connectors, etc all vibrating for hundreds of miles.  Then those potholes.  Electronics just love potholes. I think the potential for damage far outweighs any benefit that could exist. If someone was bent on checking ...
Best way to wipe off the dust cleaning the gear
The Swiffer Snail already exists.  Small problem though.  Seems to prefer the taste of aluminum cantilevers over dust.  Another vote for the more conventional Swiffer.
Conrad-Johnson Discolored (rusty?) Allen screws on side of MF-2550.
Had the same thing of a Bellari phono amp. Remove the screws.Clean as aboveShove the threaded end into styrofoam and spray paint heads of the allen screws.  Make sure to let the paint harden for a week or so before replacing them.
Why not more popular?
I owned a pair of EP KCII Pro's for the better part of a year.  I knew I was not able to set them up ideally--could only place them 30" off the front wall.  Even so, they imaged wonderfully--of course, depth was limited but excellent height and wi...
To all those who celebrate!
@valinar   Thank you my friend for your kind words.  After a difficult year, I hope and pray that this Easter joy carries forward in our lives and is evident to those around us.
A bit of an epiphany...with humble embarrassment
I recall the first time I did the very same thing.  It was a game changer for me and many of us. Welcome to the club!
To all those who celebrate!
He has risen indeed!Just received wonderful news on my wife's recent medical tests.  Talk about Easter joy!  I am so thankful.  So many of my daily troubles have just melted away.  Human nature can be such a struggle.  So many blessings that we ha...
