1990 Radio Shack catalog Most of Radio Shack's audio equipment was rebranded stereo stuff from other manufacturers (some you'd probably be surprised at). Honestly, it was stuff they could get on surplus and charge a large markup on (on a lot of it, they simply changed the...
Do you belong more to souce first or to speakers first school of thought ? OK< I'll bite. Speakers first...but it all matters.
The Horror @erik_squires , me too. Make the most of what you have and can afford, and be happy! Enjoy.
The Horror @erik_squires , lol. You're probably not far off.... I'm sure we'd all have Dartzeel or Dan A'gostino amps if we could afford them. But alas.....I'll have to be content with my British convertible sports car and my modest Canadian amp/preamp. ...
The Horror Disillusionment can be costly. And once you know, you know. Everything in audio is a trade-off. Everything. Quality costs money. Usually LOTS of money. Discipline is knowing your equipment is the best you can do, and being happy with that. IO...
Need recommendations on 15ft speaker cables I like SR's offerings. I agree that you probably want to stick with copper as silver will probably sound a little harsh with your speakers. Check out usedcable.com and see what they have in stock....they usually have a pretty good selection of ...
Would you move to a bigger house if you could just to have a better listening room ? No.
Very faint hiss from tweeter My system is stone-cold, dead quiet with no audible hiss from any of the speakers set at any level. BUT, I’m using all SS equipment not tubes. Tubes are notorious for being noisy. Especially cheap tubes. Could also be "dirty" power or noise some...
Powered Minimus 7 substitute Minimum 7's...blast from the past. I had a pair of Maximus 7's. In the walbut fibish, no less.
Full loom of the same cable brand vs mixing and matching. I TRY to use the same brand (I've pretty much settled on SR), but it doesn't always work out that way. The way I figure it, the cables were designed and engineered in their lab/equipment space using the other cabling from their own brand, so it s...
Synergistic Purple Fuse - Aftet 1 Year of Use I recently tried the exact same experiment, throwing a couple of Orange fuses in the mix, just to make things more complicated, lol. So, I "re-tried" Purples vs Oranges vs Stock fuses. I found I preferred the Purple in my pre-amp (and it wasn’t ...
I did the right thing after all. Well, you have to please you. I don’t care what anybody else thinks of my gear, it works for me (and sounds great). I also owned (and still do) a pair of Tektons. Also like you, I sort of "outgrew them" (I have a pair of Enzo XLs with Be tweete...
An ANSWER....of sorts...... Um......wut? Maybe it's both.....?
Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers @rvito , I'm pretty sure you can get Tektons in almost any finish you like. Including real wood veneer. Of course, that costs more, but......it's available. At least I'm pretty sure it used to be, anyway.
Music first or sound first? For me, no matter what, it's the music that matters. It has to move me. |
