How good does my system have to be to realize an improvement with cables?
I like the 10% guideline @ghdprentice listed above. I think pretty much any component with a $5k price tag (-ish) MSRP or above is probably going to benefit from a decent power cable and interconnects.  It's up to you to find the synergy and wha...
Silver Speaker Cables
If you need more high-end sparkle and sizzle, silver cables can be the way to go. I’ve tried silver cables, but prefer copper in my system. I can’t really recommend a "cheap" silver cable, but I would point you to usedcable . com and take a look...
Disservice: XLR interconnects
Amazing what your ears can tell you. You've just had an epiphany. And now that you know, you can't ever go back. And I agree......next up: Try a new power cord. :) Maybe even try a fuse. :)
SQ difference XLR vs RCA ?
Wow. So much crap on here. Yes, if the equipment is designed to run (preferably) with XLR connections, you should use them. Wonder how many of the responders on this thread actually HAVE equipment with balanced/XLR connections and have tried th...
How Important Are System Cable Upgrades and Where to Start?
"System Cable Upgrades" can be extremely important, so long as your equipment is up to snuff and you’re happy with it. They’re not going to make a bad system sound good, but rather make a good system sound better. Honestly, I think it depends on...
OK...here's another tweak that really works
"And it's a CD for fu*&^'s sake! Buying to try it won't ruin anyone's financial life" Not that my financial life is of anyone's business, despite what most of the naysayers out there seem to think. Gotta save me from myself, right? LOL. :) ...
OK...here's another tweak that really works
I've never tried a burn-in or tune-up disc, but it makes sense. I'd certainly be open to giving it a shot. I guess it boils down to whether or not you believe in "burn in" or that the sound of components (and cables) can change over time. I cer...
Becoming an audiophile has been like a second... No, third childhood.
Buying new gear/music is certainly exciting. Especially when it lives up to your expectations. Happy Listening!
Upgrading
@theaudioamp , I just uploaded a new pic I took about 10 mins ago. Will post more as they filter in on my email. I'm not sure you can see the SR HFT's I have all over the place in the room, but I assure you, they're in there. :) Let me know when ...
Upgrading
@theaudioamp , Shame you missed the "work in progress" part of the description of my room. ;) "Nasty" LOL. I don’t care what you buy. Really don’t. That’s the reason I didn’t mention a specific manufacturer. You’re struggling to come up with ...
Large amp fan for Classe CAV150
Heat is the danger, but given adequate ventilation and cooling, if the manual states it can handle it, it will handle it. Classe makes good stuff. Their specs, (and their manuals) mean what they say.  Happy listening!
Upgrading
Ever notice how the cable deniers almost never have their systems listed? Ever wonder why that is? @theaudioamp , yes it makes sense. If you run with the premise that cables DO make a difference (and I can assure you they do in my system. It’s ...
Upgrading
Power cords, Interconnects, then speaker cables is my recommendation. Try to get a full loom going if you can swing it. (Avoid "Cable Stew" of all different mixed/matched brand names/types. Though I admittedly have a couple of different PC’s in m...
What say you binding posts or direct wire?
I'm OK with my binding posts. Perhaps not having them might make a slight difference/improvement, but there are just some things that convenience is going to win out on. Binding posts are definitely on that list.
Which pair of speakers changed your Hifi life?
@tweak1 Yes, I still have them. I bought them used and made a 10 hour round trip to pick them up. I am super pleased with them. Remarkable speakers (especially for what I paid for them!) Definitely eye-opening (ear-opening?) You can see them i...
