Help and opinions needed on pre-amp situation
Simplest answer is yes, you need a tube preamp, especially if you're going to keep those Class D Amps. Try, borrow, whatever, but see for yourself.
The greatest Pop song yet written and recorded.
Thank you. I love every song mentioned here....and feeling so grateful that I grew up listening to our greatest age of music, the breakout of imagination and tunefulness of the 50s/60s/70s.
You’re An Independent Dealer, Which Companies And What Products Would You Represent?
I'd recommend offering some tube amps and tube preamps and setting up an excellent listening room to compare them with solid state and Class D. That would be a rare gift of audio learning, hopefully appreciated enough to generate sales, and someth...
Budget preamp with quality volume control
audioman58 I'm interested in your modded Schitt Freya+. Try personal response to condosound.
cheapest speaker made in the last 10 year that can beat any speaker made before 1970?
asvjerry, you poor thing. My mother taught deaf children to dance...by feeling the beat through their feet as she pounded on the floor. There is music and fun in the world, and all you have to do is listen however you can.
Dac that has tone and timing?
A worthy search! I heartily recommend PS Audio Directstream DAC Mk II. $8K, but worth it.
A rare opportunity (or at least I think it's rare)
OK, Step 2: What do you have in your system? Room treatment? Thanks Music Lover.
The best speaker cables you’ve had
GR Research; completely satisfied.
I found audio nirvana....
Just listen to the music in your head. That's what Thoreau did, and it's a lot cheaper than that junk on your desk.
Recommendation for Repair Service for Dodd Audio Battery Preamp
Thank you aniwolfe and xenolith. I have a pair of NX-Oticas and a GR Research dual subwoofer which I built and I love. I've sent an email request for advice to Danny, and waiting for a reply (very busy guy, I think). Also, the mini-lithium batter...

I Was Stunned
izjjzi: I made a living room full of pipe furniture just like yours, 50 years ago when I was a poverty-stricken grad student with a good audio system and no money. Solid, heavy and ugly. DIY...you don't need Etsy or a craftsman
It was 61 years ago today...
I liked them from the beginning, but it was "Rubber Soul" that really kicked my ass.
Really Inexpensive Systems That Sounded Great?
+1 for crustycoot and the Akitika Class B DIY amplifier kits for around $400. If you don't want to DIY, they will build it for you for another $100 or so.
Speakers with deep/powerful bass
sandthemall: Great review of your previous listening room! What were the dimensions of that room?
