2 channel movie lstening;is it worth the sacrafice
I used to have a stereo setup integrated with a HT setup, ie just add centre and surrounds and a AVR to drive the centre and surrounds. Later moved on to separate stereo and HT setups. Stereo system being a lot more musical and involving, than the...
Sonic quality of the Denon DV 5900.
The Denon 5900(or A-11) is very good in 2ch. No need to add any other player. I sometimes have a hard time finding the differences between the Denon and my CEC TL2/Meridian 566DAC combo on redbook. As they are in difference systems, I cannot concl...
$ 1,000 A/V receiever recomendations...
I've been there, done that.Used to have a receiver, some Marantz unit, then later upgraded to the now-discontinued Sony TAE9000ESD(pre/pro), which was not far short of some of the higher end pre/pros costing 5x.I moved out of that giant-killer Son...

$ 1,000 A/V receiever recomendations...
"Why tie yourself in to a receiver? It just doesn't make sense."Not unless the receiver has an excellent processor built in, and then some. I cannot recommend the Yamaha RX-V1400/2400 more highly. Yamaha's Cinema DSPs are among the best, just add ...
Teac DV-50 or modding Sony SCD 777 ES
I'm currently using the Denon A-11(5900) and its really good on all formats, SACD, DVDA, even redbook CD sounds good with the HDCD filters and 24bit Burr Brown DACs. Even if you don't use the video section, I consider it a bargain, as good as a de...

Which DVDP?
I've decided on the Denon. It seems that I've posted the question in the wrong forum.
Which DVDP?
Yes I've seen that report.I've also seen the Positive Feedback review of the DV8400.What I'd really like to know is for those of you who own the 5900, how do you find the audio reproduction in the various formats?
Which DVDP?
Just to clarify, the Denon A11 is the same as the 5900 in the US. A11 is the Europe/Asia model number.
Am I brushing records wrong?
MattRegarding the ticks and pops on new records, I think you shd recheck your cartridge setup, esp VTA, to make sure its tracking properly. If your cart is mis-alined, you could be damaging the grooves.
Kuzma Stogi Reference vs. Nottingham Hypersapce
Both are equally good tables. I would however recommend the Mystic Mat on either.The difference would be that the Kuzma has the resonance absorption/rejection built into the table, while the Hyperspace would probably require a more rigid platform.
Schroeder versus Tri-Planar
PatrickBetween the Redpoint and the Galibier, what made you decide on the former?Kenneth
Schroeder versus Tri-Planar
Beautiful analogue setup you have Patrick.As I'm currently using the Schroeder 2, I can confidently say that the Schroeder has no bass problems. I've come from using the Kuzma Stogi Reference, which is a gimbal arm and has very good bass. The Schr...
