audio mirror dac Dennis,The TRL mod is a leap of faith in some respects. They do not list their mods as they are somewhat proprietary (they also do not publish schematics for the amps they build). All I can say is my Alesis ML9600 modded by them is an amazing tran...
audio mirror dac Islandflyfisher,Consider talking to TRL about modding your Marantz (check out the SA14 thread here on Audiogon and contact Jes45 who has a modded SA14). Based on what I have read for their standard fee of $550 they could make your Marantz really s...
audio mirror dac Dennis,Thanks, I'll check it out. I just purchased a second D1. My original will go to TRL for mods and I'm going to compare the two. Should be interesting.
Damping Top of CDP I've used sand filled zip lock bags on top of my speakers with success. Also, just go to a gun shot and pick up a bag of lead. Another cheap tweak that will replace the feet on your player is to get the HVAC rubber/cork blocks. These are the same ...
Attn Vinyl lovers - what CD Player do you use? I use an TRL modded Alesis ML9600 as my transport and an Audio Mirror D1 DAC. Very analog. I get my turntable back from SOTA today fresh with an upgrade from Star to Nova status and I can honestly say I'm not as excited as I thought I would be. Th...
Cary Preamps I'll second going the NOS tube route on the SLP-98. However, I had no problems with the Chinese tubes other than they sounded flat. No ringing problems but then again I use Halos and my preamp sits on a suspension rack.
Harry Pearson's comments regarding ..... Jack,Thanks for the advice. I'll report back as soon as I can test it out. Also, I'll be testing out the USB to coaxial digital interface I came across that Paul endorsed. I can't wait to record 24 bit on the TRL ML9600 HD. It should be an interest...
Harry Pearson's comments regarding ..... I second the Shine Ola. I just started using it after having used Nordost Eco 3 (which I still use on my cables) and Audience Auric Illuniator. The focus is definitiely improved.
Benchmark DAC1 or Ah Reference Tjoeb 4000 The AH! brand new can cost you upwards of $1200. If your deck will serve as a good transport the Benchmark can be a good addition. Another option is to get an Audio Mirror D1 DAC for $500 (you can try it out first, just ask Vlad he is reasonable)....
Jolida JD100A, How to bring it to the next level Rkerv,I own a D1 and actually thought of doing that so I could have more options. I ended up going in another direction, but I'm so impressed with the Audio Mirror D1 DAC I snagged the one that hit Audiogon today.
Jolida JD100A, How to bring it to the next level Less is more with this player. I've heard two sets of mods and they are not worth it. If you want a solid state sound from your CDP go buy a solid state CDP.
AES/CARY Sixpac Mono Amps,Anyone have these? The V12i I own performs nicely in triode. I was interested in the Six Packs at one time, but since I got a real good deal on a pre-owned V12i I went in that direction. I have played with two-thirds triode and the sound is a little less sweeter tha...
Tube CDP vs CDP/DAC Combo There can be too much of the tube sound in a system, but the only way you're going to know is to try an in home test and hear it for yourself. As for your other quandry, you can upgrade the DAC with an Audio Mirrod D1 ($500 on Audiogon) and use the...
Which cable to change first-intercon. or speaker? I upgraded the ICs first in my recent overhaul. Basically the ICs deliver the music from source to preamp to amp. Once I replaced them I got a good idea of what my speaker cables could deliver. I ended up replacing them but the important thing was...
Do I need power conditioning I presently use a PS Audio P300 for source gear and have enjoyed it. Now I'm going to try out a Richard Gray 400 Pro and Running Springs Audio Haley to compare. The knock on the P300 has been that it is taking 1800 watts and squeezing it to 300 wa... |
