Burson Audio
Mitch Singerman in Venice might be able to help you.
The disappearance of the traditional amplifier
Duke's speakers are indeed special. I own the Jazz Modules and in addition to the waveguide design and power response (summed omnidirectional response), another factor that contributes to the sound of these speakers is the fact they have negligibl...
Has anyone here tried the Lightspeed Attenuator?
Yes, the Silver Rock transformers.I really wish there was a way to easily build a balanced version of the Lightspeed, but after listening the other night it's making me reconsider going back to single ended.
Has anyone here tried the Lightspeed Attenuator?
Listened to the Lightspeed in a system that included a Rawson DIY F-5 amp and Audio Consulting TVC. The source was a Mac feeding a new USB DAC made by Doug Jesse. The Lightspeed gave up nothing to the Audio Consulting TVC. In fact I thought it was...
Has anyone here tried the Lightspeed Attenuator?
More dynamics and slam versus a TVC passive. It made the TVC sound like it was compressing the music a bit.I have lent mine to another audiophile and we'll be doing a comparison tonight in his system. I'll post my thoughts once the listening is done.
Novice looking for advice
As you stated living in a rural area will make it difficult for you to visit dealers so you can listen to a wide variety of equipment. However, with what you are budgeting you could easily buy various pieces of gear here on Audiogon and try them i...
Has anyone here tried the Lightspeed Attenuator?
I own one too. Bought it based on a post here from dgarettson and reading that entire DIYAudio thread. It was an improvement over my K&K S&B TVC passive preamp and just as good as my JRDG Capri. Unfortunately I'm planning on staying with a...
Leave tubes in phono section if not using it?
If he is seeking knowledge he should just call George Kaye and get a direct answer.
the tough question: Which preamplifier? and why
Fiddler, thanks I was not aware of that.
the tough question: Which preamplifier? and why
Yes the Lightspeed is quite good if a passive will work in his system. I own one and have to agree that it is transparent without sacrificing anything in the mix. I was also under the impression that the Lightspeed was pretty much immune to impeda...
Very small very sensitive floor stander 1000?
Perhaps the Tonian Labs TL-D1. Only 33" tall (the entire speaker has a small footprint IMO), 95db efficient, and easy to drive. Although the stock finish is nice, since you have the WAF to deal with you can pay extra for a veneered finish. These a...
MM Tube Phono for $1000
It might run you slightly more if you have Kevin Carter build it for you, but the K&K Basic MM phono would be a good option.
Anybody have the Feickert Adjust + program?
It is a very good product. I had the opportunity to sit with Dr. Feickert at CES while he demonstrated it to me. It might not be for everyone, but it is something worth looking into if you're already playing with Wally's or Mint's tools. Also, I've...
A MONSTEROUS DIY SPEAKER CABLE
Also, try a double run where you use 3 conductors per lead.
A MONSTEROUS DIY SPEAKER CABLE
The WLM cable is the one I was referencing when I mentioned doubling the conductors on the negative lead. Over on AA there were some users who experimented with this and preferred the sound this way versus double the conductors on the positive lead.
