Footers? Then there is the HRS method. Take a look at their damping plates. Something else you could DIY with some 30 or 40 durometer rubber from McMaster. You can have too much weight. Its an art not a science.
Footers? For mass loading, which does work great on digital gear IMO, try some DY remedies first. Take some plastic zip lock backs and load them with sand or kitty litter. Note the weight (you may want to make up a few of varying weights) and place them on...
Best budget, high current, DIY power cord wire? Sorry for the typo, meant TRL. I still have a set. Power cords and speaker cables are great too.
Best budget, high current, DIY power cord wire? Those CRL interconnects are very special.
Modernists Unite, or: saying no to room treatment I think Eighth Nerve's (alas no more) philosophy had the right idea. I believe it coincides with what Emailists was saying. The idea is to treat upper room corners with triangles and the seams (wall to wall and wall to ceiling) with rectangles. To...
Soundsmith's turnaround time? I sent a B&O 8000 table in to be refurbished in November 2009. Original estimate was 6 - 8 weeks. Then I was notified very shortly thereafter it would be closer to 8 - 12 weeks. That was all fine with me. We're pushing on close to 20 weeks now...
Power tubes glowing? Try re-biasing the tubes. If they won't re-bias properly or if the orange glow continues I'd replace the tube. You don't want to have a tube explode on you.
Slagle AVC Modules & Lightspeed Attenuator I am actually rewiring a Bent/Slagle AVC right now. It came with single input/two outputs. Switching it around. The new circuit board John and Dave designed makes this real easy. Check out the new models Dave is rolling out:http://intactaudio.com/...
Slagle AVC Modules & Lightspeed Attenuator The more important issue with LDRs is matching. Out of 100, you might be lucky to get half that are closely matched pairs. That's a major reason George does not do balanced designs.
Slagle AVC Modules & Lightspeed Attenuator Here is some information from the manual:A couple of do’s and don’ts, the Lightspeed can be left on continuously. When not being used leave the volume control at half volume (12 o’clock), this let’s the LED/LDR packages inside operate at half leve...
K and K Audio RAKK dac If you haven't already, try over on Audio Asylum where Kevin hosts the K&K Audio forum. Lots of people over there have bought and built this DAC.
Who is using passive preamps and why? Given the wide array of monitoring positions and speaker locations used by mixing engineers while twiddling the pan pots, it would seem logical that reproducing any perspective of depth and width would vary based upon these unknowable factors.I'm ...
Who is using passive preamps and why? Mine cost a little extra because I had George wire it with 2 volume controls. He referred me to Allied Electronics for a Stancor regulated (very important) power supply. Mine is also wired with the center pin negative on the PS since that is the w...
Who is using passive preamps and why? I remember a conversation I had with Kevin Carter when he was building me a TVC, my first passive. I had made some comment to the effect that passives have the reputation of leaning out the sound. It took him less than a second or two (meaning he ...
Atma Sphere S30 amp I mentioned this in another thread but I have just under $1500 invested in the amp and preamp used in my system right now (new just under $2500). I'm going to go out on a limb and say the sound I'm getting makes their valuation worth closer to $15... |
