Bob Carver tube amps
Ha, ha, "Tracking Downconvertor™". Carver has always been clever at designing an unusual circuit, and then giving it a comic book sounding name, such as Magnetic Field Coil or "autocorrelator". (Who wouldn't want that?) My favorite is "asymmetric...
Help with previous post
My recollection of the thread is different. It was a deleted thread, so there's no point in repeating its content here.
New take on CD vs Vinyl vs CD
How did you ensure levels were equal?
Analyzing DACs
kennyc ... my online empirical research shows a mixed bag ... Online empirical research? That's oxymoronic. "Researching" online is the exact opposite of empirical research.
New take on CD vs Vinyl vs CD
You need to match levels among all of the sources if you want that kind of comparison to be meaningful.
Phono Cable, is it necessary?
MM cartridges are specified to work at a given capacitance and that includes the capacitance in the phono cable. Typically, you want that to be a low capacitance cable, because many MM phono preamps offer the option to increase capacitance. (Obvio...
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm
rauliruegas ... In reality the issue is not " dogmatic theorists " but common sense founded in the Löfgren theory where he proved through scientific equation calculations ... The dogamtic theorists are those who understand such geometry - such...
TT Arm-base Unipivot vs Gimbal-base Designs...
I've heard unipivot arms sound fantastic, including the VPI arm. Personally, they just give me the creeps because they seem all wobbly and fiddly. But that's just me. My preference is for a precise, rigid pickup arm, such as the SME V I've enjoyed...
Inexpensive but good sounding power supply (and hard drive) for PC audio?
mastering92 More expensive/higher standard power supplies just mean they are more efficient in terms of power consumption ... Actually the opposite is often the case. Nothing could be more inefficient than a Class A power supply.
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm
I have followed this thread from the beginning. I find the concept of underhung arms intriguing because it goes against most all of the established phono playback geometry that many of us have long accepted, yet those who’ve heard such arms report...
A public service announcement
It's amazing what people will do when pumped on alcohol.
Interesting Read From a Recording Engineer about EQ
lordrootman I find it strange how many audiophiles or audio enthusiasts are averse to using EQ to achieve audio bliss ... I’d rather reach bliss without the added EQ. I'm not sure why you'd think that strange.
What is the best way to clean Vinyl?
jjbeason14             Just got skipping on a brand new record. Dirty needle? Could be. Could also be a dirty disc. LPs aren't made in clean rooms.
I am considering a luxman 3600 tube amp as my first adventure into tube amplifiers?
This amplifier is going to be a nightmare if it ever requires service, and Luxman certainly won't touch it.
Arcam A65 with EMI driving me nuts…
Something like EMI typically would affect both channels, so it's likely something else is the problem.
