Does a new cd transport require break-in time?
willemj... comparing a product over the course of many hours is an invalid methodology, of course, because given humans’ short audio memory you cannot do a direct comparison over time, and time travel is yet to be invented. So what you would ...
TriPlanar tonearm outward skating issue
wrm57@cleeds: Good thought but the Triplanar has a captive cable fixed to the base, relieving stress on the arm from the cable. Given the skating issue you described, this captive cable warrants close examination.

Donald Fagan The Nightfly Ultra One-Step
I heard some tracks from this just yesterday at Soundsmith. Yes, the sound was clean and lush ... and unbelievably quiet through Peter Ledermann's strain-gauge system.
Dealers hijacking the discussions
The forum's terms of use allow dealer participation. If there's a dealer here who bothers you, the best approach is probably to just ignore him.
Why do turntables sound different?
anvil_turntablesVery very good turntables, like other great components have exceptional transparency, which makes them sound more alike than different. +1. And I would add that the very best turntable systems sound very much like the best digi...
