Wally Tools to Offer a New Service.
pindacThe Terminology is not off importance, the need to investigate and carry out the additional alignments are the practices that have importance.Actually the terminology matters very much, as it does in any pursuit. Only by mutual agreement...

mijostyn ... the definition I learned for zenith is the point in the sky directly over your head. I have no idea how that relates to horizontal tracking angle. Lateral tracking angle would probably be a better term but "twist"is short and swee...
Wally Tools to Offer a New Service.
mijostyn A "new" parameter is discussed which they are calling "zenith." I have always called it "twist" ...It’s not a new term at all. Zenith = Horizontal Tracking Angle. It's an often overlooked alignment factor and one reason I prefer mirrored...
For ARC lovers, Problems?
I haven't had reliability issues with ARC equipment even after many decades of ownership. It sounds like you purchased your ARC gear used, so perhaps that's part of the problem.
Trying to use a preamp for a MC cartridge
If you truly bought a phono preamp, you'll need to connect that to a receiver's "line in" stage. If you bought an MC step up device - such as a transformer or head amp - then that should connect to a phono input.
What makes tape sound better than vinyl ?
4trackmindRE: vinyl vs. tape comparison. There's NO WAY I've ever thought vinyl won based on anything which DIDN'T involve something related to vinyl's peculiarities ...  the gobbs of vinyl's RIAA-eq midrange boost being (mis)understood as h...
vinyl versus digital redux
4trackmind... The characteristic upper bass/lower-mid bloat peakiness OF VINYL sounding like a phase-distorted bathtub affect is the thing I, personally, have never been able to stand about "vinyl sound"...That "characteristic" isn’t inherent to L...
New streamer
I had an Aurender N100H. It was a nuisance and I dumped it after less than a year. Frequent software updates often failed. Tech support sometimes suggested "solutions" that I’d previously explained I’d already tried, and they’d blame issues on thi...
General question on Carbon fiber tonearms versus aluminum
spatialking ... The Dolby equalization curve concept is no different than the RIAA concept we all live with when we play vinyl. There is a Dolby pre-equalization of the music and a post equalization when playing, which reduces hiss ...Dolby a...
General question on Carbon fiber tonearms versus aluminum
noromanceDolby effectively filtered frequencies (-3 dB at 600 Hz/ -6 dB at 1.2 kHz/ -8 dB at 2.4 kHz/ -10 dB at 5 kHz) resulting in a removal of ambient information. Back in the 80s, we never used Dolby B or C as both sounded worse than the cl...

peteraudio21Digital information is discrete, analogue information is essentially continuous. The pressure waves that come to your ears are continuous. How you convert the discrete information into continuous by interpolation is one of the mai...
Help: Anthem STR dac vs Bryston BDA-1 and others - sounds the same to me
jasonbourne52A DAC is NOT a computer! Hence NO programmingA DAC is very much a computer. How else do you think a DAC can perform the mathematical computations necessary to convert digital code to an analog signal?
The best TT system for under 30K
uwiikz Plugged into my C22 I have to crank the volume to 12 o'clock position for any decent volume, mismatched gain? The sound however was night and day, it's a lot more real and improvement was everywhere, background was pitch black ...As lo...

jjss49there are so many people on this board who feel they are entitled to be nasty and be critical while expressing little respect and courtesy for others, it is pitiful ...It is actually worse than that - for some of the people you’re referring ...
Are your current amps and other gear the best you've ever had?
Yes, absolutely. That's how I got to where I am.
