I have found out why new cables and tweaks actually work!
Yes.  They are sensitive to interconnect and speaker cable impedence, but not that of power cables.  Or indeed fuses.  So long as they can pass the necessary current. But, on a higher philosophical plane, how sensitive do we normally think they a...

@erik_squires    On cables I think I mainly agree with you.  I am not so pig headed as to think cables carrying signal cannot make a difference.  But a far smaller difference than changing an amp, or cartridge, digital player or speakers.  And eve...

@lanx003   Afraid you're wayyyy too far gone for me. But I think you mean 'conductive'.  Now, you say 'the dust layer on the cables becomes conductive"  But the cables are heavily insulated.  So the thin film cannot transmit any signal into the d...
Power cable dilemma
@jrimer  Totally agree.  Technology in power cords hasn't changed.  But there is a huge amount more hype.  In this application wire is wire, assuming it's thick enough to transmit the load. SHOW ME THE CONCRETE EVIDENCE. How refreshing.

POP sound when turning off TT
Clearly a problem in the Rega PSU.  Likely there is a poor contact in the on-off switch or simply the noise of switching it is being picked up as an RF signal by the cartridge and amplified.  What @testpilot said. Solutions: 1.   Get the PSU tes...

@erik_squires      Nice one for Christmas!   But does you joshing like this mean you might be realising the shortcomings of the dark side and be coming over to the light side and leaving the golden-eared fools to their own devices (sic).
Oppo 105 favoring one channel
When did the channel imbalance start?  Was the system and the room arrangements the same before you heard the imbalance?  Did you ever hear this issue previously? Could it be a change in your hearing?  Sometimes if one of my ears gets a bit block...

Retreat to the Golden Age.  Many 'improvements' since then are illusory.
Power cable dilemma
You should measure the resistance of the trick power cord to make sure it can pass sufficient current. 9 foot of standard 12 gauge won't cost much so make the change now and ditch the power strip.  Power strips suck.  Don't worry about the wall r...
Snowballs
I was listening a couple of weeks ago and the sound quality suddenly improved in the left channel.  I am absolutely sure I could hear it clearly as I have been training my ears for nearly 60 years to listen critically.  I got up and looked at the ...
The revolution has begun!
@anzaanimalclinic    I'm a Class A only guy and not the dodgy Class A/B pretending it's Class A with so-called 'anticipator circuits'. I can agree with @jerryg123; there's enough of us to ensure a ready supply of new Class A amps and a large stoc...
The revolution has begun!
@jerryg123   the likes of you will certainly be welcome in an intolerant forum.  Dream on about imaginary improvements to your system.  Some of us remain grounded in some kind of science.
Help me understand cartridge alignment
Everyone here is right. But the most right are those with parallel trackers.  @lewm  This is the only condition in which there can be a linear relationship between cantilever/stylus correctly mounted in cantilever and groove.  Beware.  Many so-ca...

@jerryg123    Well off you go and leave us alone.
