Emmylou Harris - All I Intended to be - Love this
Emmylou is hot.Agreed..especially in the days with G.P. After that my favorite is 'Wrecking Ball'.
Ayre vs BAT amps; SS vs tube
I've owned the Ayre V5xe and now own the BAT VK-55SE, but I didn't have them at the same time so never could do a side by side comparision. Like you I own the Ayre C5xe. From memory I really enjoyed the Ayre amp but for what I listen to (Classical...
Tube-aholics Anonymous?
I decided to kick the habit. I picked up a Naim Nait 5i a couple of years ago. I like the amp. I enjoy the music.Jhold - You say you're now enjoying the music!! It sounds like in your former life you were more into the gear.. don't turn back! Ther...
An Advent Guy
I concur Jaybo. In the early 70's I really liked the Advents. They were very good at what they did. (putting a system together was much easier then) The advents, then hearing the Quad ESL-57's was what got me interested in 'audio'.
Proceed HPA-2 Quality Issues? Sound? Tube Preamp?
Braminator - I had a BPA then HPA-2.. I think I got the HPA the last year they were made. I had no issues with mine - none. I tried it with a Dehavilland Ultra Verve preamp and the combo was just great. The HPA was much better sounding then the sm...
Proceed Amps
Russ:If you're looking at buying one of the 2 channel amps I would recommend the HPA-2 over the smaller BPA-2. I had both and the HPA was a much better amp IMO. Not just more wattage but it really handles difficult speakers and sounded better from...
the SHM CD Experience
Swampwalker:I've been bought many 'new' SACDS starting at @ $13 through the vendors at Amazon. (click on the "More buying choices" link next to the Amazon listed price.) Even with shipping added ($2.99) you're getting an SACD for about half price ...
the SHM CD Experience
Thank you Tvad.. and I agree - I've been buying new SACDS cheaper than redbook
Any comments on the deHavilland UltraVerve preamp?
Mr T said:if you favor a tube preamp that sounds more like solid state, you may prefer this preamp. This surprises me as the UltraVerve was the 1st tube preamp I ever bought. I had previously been using three SS pre's: a Quad, Adcom GFP-750 and Pas...
Any comments on the deHavilland UltraVerve preamp?
Hi Mastro:I used to have an UltraVerve & thought it was everything those reviews say. The only reason I got rid of mine was I went to equipment with all balanced inputs. I now have a BAT VK-3IX which I think is a great preamp for the price (pr...
Bat vk31se and vk120 vs Simaudio I-7
Trapper with due respect, you'd have to do a lot more to convince me to just sell all my BAT gear when you use terms like, "my new pre 'blew away' the BAT 52SE pre amp."..but I'm glad you're happy with your new gear:)
My new CDP does SACD too....
I have no intention of building an SACD collection..You might be surprised. I not only said those very words when I got my Universal player but I replaced many of my Redbook CDs with SACD.. Getting SACD's from vendors through Amazon are often as c...
What is with B&W these days? soundbars, ipod doc..
We're living in an IPOD World. I think many growing up on IPOD's and soon to have nice incomes will look at your above example(s) as all they want or really need. You can bet B&W has done their market research.
Do cold temperatures damage audio equipment?
I'm gald you asked this..I've always wondered, and frankly I've been more concerned about summer heat. As a result when I've bought new I usually pay extra to have shipped overnight or two day if they drop ship. Like mentioned above it just bother...
Square peg round hole?
Would Blue Circle BC2s be able to drive a pair of Kef 105.4s properly?I don't know but "Cowmoozik" is one cool name.
