Paying with a cashiers check? Need advice!
"Trust" and "transfer" are issues for buying and selling anything online. Without a trusted intermediary (like an escrow company), either the buyer or the seller must assume a weak position and be forced to trust the other party. Often times, escr...
DAC finalist please help
Like you, I'm all over the place in my search. Chip based DACs have been great so far, but I think the future of DACs will move toward FPGA units and R2R arrays.
DAC finalist please help
+1 on the British audiophile youtube channelAlso, I recently found this channel, and I believe that the following video is one of the best DAC shoot-off reviews I've heard: https://youtu.be/sCP63G8MYOI First time listening to this youtube channel...
What to upgrade next.
Hi Dadork,Because you’re operating your system for both music and movies, my advice will diverge from the stereo purists here. 1. Buy a leviton hospital grade 20A electrical outlet. $102. Buy a video streamer that will allow you to cast from your ...
Streaming: WiFi or wired??
@rsf507 I used iFi power supplies. They have two different models to match most various voltage and amperage requirements for streamers, DACs, modems and routers. iFi is relatively affordable, which makes it a perfect to start to see if you hear a...
Streaming: WiFi or wired??
Hans and Darko are two audiophile YouTubers who both prioritize digital audio. They both agree that what comes before the DAC makes a difference. In this video Hans mentions that galvonic isolation and reclocking, although helpful, are insufficien...
Streaming: WiFi or wired??
@snowbuffalo I used iFi power supplies on my modem and router. I recommend them. If you do try a low noise PS for you modem/router, I'm Interested to hear whether they make a difference for you.
Streaming: WiFi or wired??
@erik_squires if you'd like to go wired, try running mesh router system. And throw a low noise power supply on the satelite router you connect to your stereo. It's worth a shot, and cheaper than a lot of other audiophile purchases. Worse case scen...
Streaming: WiFi or wired??
I expected more votes for wired. To you wireless proponents, consider this: I too didn't hear a difference between wifi and Ethernet until I connected low noise power supplies to the modem and router. It's possible the WiFi card in your streamer i...
Streaming: WiFi or wired??
I have a silly question: would using LNPS's on a modem and main router in a mesh system make a difference if the stereo system is connected to a satellite router via Ethernet? I think the answer is likely 99% to be no. But I feel like the obvious ...
Streaming: WiFi or wired??
I only stream, and I've been testing wifi and Ethernet connections at various stages of my stereo build. The last components I upgraded were the power supplies for my streamer, modem and router, and the Ethernet cables connecting them. I used the ...
Synergistic UEF Blue v. Cerious Graphene Matrix Power v. Mad Scientist Audio Nitro Nano
Hi OP, Your system sounds excellent. I want to push back to say that the next bang-for-the-buck purchase for your system may not be power cables for your downstream gear. Consider placing a reclocker between your streamer and DAC. Upgrade the PC i...
Downfiring subs on carpet?
I have down firing subs on a wood floor with a rug in front of the speakers, and a thick rug mat. I also found that isolating the sub and adding a second sub made big improvements. In my limited experience, I haven't found a difference in the fron...
Streamers and bit rot.
My experience with reclockers aligned closely with ASR’s findings: Great DACs don’t need reclockers. Good to know. I've heard some say that more expensive DACs will have jitter reducing (reclocking?) built in to their various inputs. Now that I...
Help! High level subwoofer input on a class D amp introduces ground loop.
@almarg I'l have to read up on your speakers. I hear equalizing software provides real benefits for music.
