Review: Allnic H 3000 phono preamplifier Tube preamp
Hi, Bob,I guess I am permanently stuck on vinyl. I am not a digiphobe, I have a wonderful sounding digital system. I just don't seem to listen to it much as long as there is a vinyl record available. I compared the excellent CD mastering of Miles ...
Review: Allnic H 3000 phono preamplifier Tube preamp
Thank you for your comments, Montepilot and Genesis. Thanks for the correction about the input gains, David, I glossed over the markings on the trannies too quickly and got the numbers mixed up.I like your descriptions of the 1500 very much, Monte...

Yes, Graz of Australia now has the Apogee name and has his own line of brand new Apogee speakers based on the beloved ribbon technology. Duetta Classic, Synergy and Ultimate are among the offerings.http://www.apogeeacoustics.com
Lamm ML 3
Our member oneobgyn had them in his possession for over a month, and several of the audiophiles in our local group had an opportunity to hear them with his Alexandrias. I don't think anybody who heard them wasn't impressed. There were also some sh...
Wavac SET tube amps with different output tube
Audio Exotics has some forums discussing some of the differences, including a shootout between an 833 vs. the 805MkII.http://www.audioexotics.hk/forum.php
Phono Preamp Suggestions?
Genesis,Please e-mail me with your impressions of the H-3000 when you get it. The 1500 has large room for improvement by using either the WE417a or the Amprex gold pinned 5842. I found the raytheons very detailed but somewhat bleached and body-les...
Phono Preamp Suggestions?
Genesis, did you try to upgrade the 1500 to WE417a tubes and a mullard 5ar4? Makes a world of difference for the better over the stock raytheon tubes and JJ 5ar4 included with the \unit.
Are Digitally mastered LPs any better than CDs?
Probably the best way to listen to a digital master is with a vinyl LP. Digital is a brittle, lossy medium that doesn't transfer well to the home media, in spite of the "bitz is bitz" claims. Digital becomes drier, edgier and more jittery the furt...
Deep Cleaning Records With Steam?
I think I will hold on to my Perfection as well. I saw an episode of "Monk" last night where Monk was fondling some LP's at his assistant's house. If he started trying to clean them, I am sure he would get off on some kind of delusionary tangent l...
Deep Cleaning Records With Steam?
I guess I am on board with this method as well. I picked up a Perfection Steamer from Walgreen's and tried it out. I used to have an ultrasonic until it broke and thought that was fantastic.I just apply the solvent with a spritzer, wipe it through...
Installing Apogee Divas w/ribbons to the outside
Actually, Jason Bloom didn't have a preference for "in" or "out" and encouraged experimentation. In fact, he suggested the "out" position in some kinds of setups, particularly home theater. I have had my MRT ribbons to the outside on Apogee Stages...
Best and Worst Rock Concert Moments

putting ribbons in ribbon tweeters
I have done it with Aurum Cantus ribbon tweeters, the all aluminum material is very fragile, if you haven't done it once, you will need a spare pair for the possibility of destroying at least one in the learning process.
If cost is not a problem
You would get a more meaningful response if you could list your turntable/arm/phono stage. It would still be confusing, but might be more meaningful than just a list of what cartridges members are currently using, which is usually what they would ...
Unipivot vs Linear Tracking
I am not being condescending at all. I have heard the Rockport turntable in a wonderful system locally, but there is no quality I could ascribe to it that had anything to do with the linear tracking tonearm, other than the overall superiority of t...
