Parasound vs Coda
That's a really cool brand, will dig in on it more. So many options.   To the point on multiple inputs on the amp side, the JC5 has that too. Good idea on attaching two pres and trying both.
Parasound vs Coda
I've definitely seen several members with experience from Pass preamps that they aren't the most exciting or lively compared to others, granted the XP12/22/32s are universally considered improvements over the prior generation.   I think I'm goin...
Parasound vs Coda
@yyzsantabarbara  That's the first I've seen about the packing point, interesting!    I'm going to Sunny and see if maybe I can put a deposit down to demo it. That would be ideal but not sure if they would. I just don't want warmth at the expens...
Parasound vs Coda
@yyzsantabarbara There's also this one floating around, it's been re-listed a few times. CODA No. 16 Amplifier For Sale - US Audio Mart   I too am not interested in something overly 'tubey' but a touch of warmth with all the detail and refinemen...
Parasound vs Coda
@yyzsantabarbara Do you know if they allow home demos? I'd be willing to put money down for any dealer willing to do that.   Covina isn't far from me either (I'm in Newport Beach).
Preamp and Power Amp Matching
The 10x rule is correct, that's a safe basic principle for preamp / amp matching. Which would mean the above impedances would work fine.
Parasound vs Coda
@jeffreyw A local dealer suggested a M462 over Parasound and even above either, the 611. I ended up going JC5 used for a good deal as they didn't allow in home demos and was space limited on monoblocks at the time.   @decooney I haven't had a to...
Parasound vs Coda
I've been trying to learn as much about the tube side as possible for a while, but have a long way to go especially since the options plus tube rolling make for nearly infinite choices. Almost headswimming as a tube noob!   Aric, Allnic, Zeto, M...
Parasound JC1+ warm up time
Not a JC1+, but I find my JC5 sounds good on first start but is in its prime after 30 minutes of warm up.
Arcam AVR20 vs. Denon AVR-a110 anniversary edition...
Arcam definitely had some real issues rolling out the AV line, mostly software bugs that ranged from annoying to unusable. I went through that but after latest software updates, mine has been flawless for pure AV use.
Parasound vs Coda
One of the reasons I asked is if anything for a sanity check, and certainly would prefer not to make a sideways move at significant expense! I rarely get the itch but when it bites, it bites.   The two other areas outside amplifiers are to try a...
Connectivity Issues/Arcam ST60 Streamer!!
I had similar connectivity issues on my Arcam AV40 when I first got it, which after a few firmware updates it was fixed. Not sure if the ST60 has any newer firmware versions than the one you currently have but might be worth looking into.
Is it possible a 20 amp outlet can make a big difference in SQ?
I had three dedicated 20amp circuits run to my living room when I needed to upgrade the main panel. It was a substantial improvement over the two regular circuits previously, quieter noise floor, better dynamics, more cohesive sound.   I didn't ...
New Parasound Halo JC1+ monoblocks just released!!!
@ja_kub_sz A good deal certainly never hurts! One great thing about buying used and smart is break in is done for you.
New Parasound Halo JC1+ monoblocks just released!!!
@ja_kub_sz  For 2 channel listening, no subs yet. For the rest of the setup, Lumin U1 streamer w/ X1 PSU, Denafrips Terminator+ DAC, Pass Labs XP22 pre, various GIK room treatments, and very good cabling. It's a great system, but as we know, the c...
