audiolab 6000 CDT transport
It's funny, but some of these cheaper transports seem to last forever.  I just met an old friend that I helped put together a system 20 years ago and he still has his Arcam DVD/CD player I recommended and it still works!  As to your Audiolab, ther...
older CD transport vs newer ones.
IMO, if your main concern is having the transport die on you, I would purchase the Jay's Audio with 2 extra transports.  That should hold you for a while. The Pro-Ject is probably great, but, also IMO, the transports come from a new company and yo...
RMAF 2021 Cancelled
Unfortunately, I think audio shows are an anachronism, given the prevalence of internet demonstrations.  Before you say - "you can't judge equipment on You Tube!", that is exactly how many, if not most people are making decisions nowdays. Dealers ...
New TT, Arm and MC Cartridge
I think you have the right idea in buying from a dealer you have a good relationship with.  Let them set it up in your home and deal with any issues that come up later.  Definitely less choices, but also less headaches if something goes wrong.
Linn Sondek LP-12 tonearm recommendations?
The Ekos is a good choice, as is the Ittok, which will save you money if you can find a good one.  I had a Rega 6 something? on my Linn, which was ok, but needed a lot of shims with the Lyra I was using and a different cable routing.  The Ekos was...
Townshend Springs under Speakers
i thought the best results were whatever sounds best to you in your listening room.
Mola Mola Tambaqui
AND - you can lift it.  That has become very important to me in my older age. I'm not buying anything I can't lift.  Been there, done that, had hernia surgery in May.  No more.
3 Way Stand Mount Speakers
I’ve never heard the Mac, but it seems to me it was built primarily as a headphone amp and you may be missing out on what your Monitor 30s are capable of. Again, it’s just a comment based on my impression of driving really good speakers from a hea...
Follow your own advice
Sometimes music is tipped up in mastering in order to present a more dramatic difference on first listening, but it quickly becomes tiresome after the dust settles.  Assuming it was a hybrid, did the redbook layer sound any better?
AGI 511 Preamp... GEO JAP Are you out there?
I had one back in the day.  I was well-built and sounded good to me at that time.  Can't say I'd have much interest in one now.
TEKTON IMPACT MONITORS
I am surprised nobody suggested you call Eric and ask him.  Actually I'm not surprised.  Why would anybody ask a designer about their product? Silly me.
Naim Supernait 2 vs Supernait 3
Yes, the Naim forum is definitely the place, but I will say that the best thing you can do for any Naim component is to use the best outboard power supply they offer for the unit.  The differences are transformative. Really makes you aware of the ...
Sony XA5400Es CD Player DAC Upgrade?
I've owned the 5400 and the CD was not bad, but any of the $1000 dacs mentioned in the forum threads would by far sound better than the 5400.  Whether you can hear the difference is another story.  That's not a jab, btw.  People listen for differe...
Harbeth Compact 7's
I think the amp you need is dependent on your listening taste as far as volume and music selection goes.  It will definitely work with a Nait 5i, but not if you are seeking louder volumes IMO.  A supernait would be a good choice as well and would ...
To Harbeth or not to Harbeth, That is the question...
Audiophiles hate this kind of thing, but using a low stand like the Mapleshade Bedrock can do wonders at low levels.  I had a pair years ago with some small monitors and it was quite amazing.  Yes, the image changes, but you can adjust the tilt to...
