Cartridge burn-in I think all break in and/or burn in is a combination of the product and your expectations. I remember when I upgraded my tonearm on my Linn from a Rega to an Ekos, the presentation changed quite a bit and it took a while to reset my brain to acce...
Where to now.? Where to now? Take delivery of your new amps and listen to them for a couple of months. Then think about what you want to do, if anything. One step at a time.
Speakers to audition with Exposure 3510 Need price range and general listening preference as to genre and general loudness level.
Who is Gonna Buy A New Jeep Grand Wagoneer For the MacIntosh Stereo? Another thing to distract you from the road. Nothing against Mac, but I think it looks garish in a vehicle.
Cable burn in You are going to hear people saying it’s all in your head and maybe it is, but I’ll give you my personal experience. Some equipment is not sensitive to cable changes and some stuff is very affected by changes. Some cables sound horrible out of the...
Rega system one advice as its on sale right now? If you can listen to it and it sounds good to you, I would buy it. You are not buying your last system anymore than your first computer was your last either. Dip your toe in the water, see if you like playing records and you will be in a much bett...
What is the Best Sounding Stand Mount Speaker in the world? Best I ever listened to was the Magico Q1. Also the Sonus Faber Extrema, which I am surprised nobody mentioned.
Digital Improving All the Time? @kota1 - I guess you’re right. My post was primarily focused on the sound quality of 2-channel digital 20 years ago as opposed to today. There is always something new being sold.
Digital Improving All the Time? Yeah, I guess DSD could be considered an improvement, although I would question whether it’s really better than the best CD/SACD players of times gone by. And HD Tracks hi-res downloads have been around for a long time as well. I guess my post was...
Blu Ray player versus CD/SACD player. The most important part of your question was “will I hear a difference…”. The fact is, you can buy a $7500 Marantz or $16k Luxman and you may not hear a difference. Nobody can predict what you will hear. My advice is to find a dealer and ask if th...
any lawyers in this forum care to give an advice? Try making a complaint to your attorney general. In NY, this can be done online. I made complaints against AT&T and an insurance company and actually got results. It’s free and companies generally listen when they get a call from the AG.
Power Cables - Stock vs. Budget I have some nice Pangea cords up for sale. Cheap- the magic word, right? Maybe you can use them.
Tonearm/Cartridge pairing. Why don’t you ask a technics dealer what they recommend for your TT? Believe me, they have no desire to sell you something you want to send back. In the old days, I used a Denon 103, and it really sounded good to me.
Why do so many members seem afraid of making an audio decision? @immatthewj - and like a person choosing their last meal, many audiophiles are trying to choose components as if it’s their last chance. The internet has allowed the audiophile to sift through literally hundreds of choices in every component categ...
Careful if buying Purist Audio Neptune fluid cables. I have a Neptune IC, but never heard the speaker cables. The IC sounds very neutral to my ears, but I would not even try to extrapolate this to the speaker cables. |
