Careful if buying Purist Audio Neptune fluid cables. I really like purist cables, but with the amazing amount of cables produced in Europe, why not buy something made closer to home with a return policy? And there the issue of shipping back to the US if something breaks or something. Not worth it, ...
how to buy power cords that fit my components (i.e tight and snug) I’ve found this to be hit and miss, depending on the connector they use and how it mates with your power inlet. A lot of folks wrap a piece of electrical tape around the plug, although I’ve never done it myself.
Are advances in technology making speakers better? Do what everyone does when they don’t know what to do. Fire the drummer.
Speaker Stand Help I’ve owned both Skylan and Target 4-post. Both good, but I personally prefer target. I am a big fan of standmount speakers and IMO, stands are a critical part of the sound. I would definitely go for a 4-post stand. I had 2-post Skylans and they dr...
M.I.T.: Using sound to model the world Good to know.
To bolt Standmounts to stands, or not? Security concerns aside, every standpoint speaker I’ve owned required it’s own stand interface to sound their best to my ears. Some sounded best when blu-tak’d firmly to the stands, others on small wood blocks, on and on. Same with the stand bases...
NAIM 282/250DR/HC2DR against Accuphase E5000 I am using a Heed Lagrange with the dac card. I simplified my previous system which was the Heed Obelisk integrated with the optional power supply and the Heed Abacus dac. Very good, but too many boxes and cables for me. The Lagrange is a very nic...
NAIM 282/250DR/HC2DR against Accuphase E5000 @ryder - I wasn’t talking about a Naim integrated. You are correct that they can’t approach the quality once you reach the 282/250 level. I don’t think the OP would be satisfied with a Naim integrated.
NAIM 282/250DR/HC2DR against Accuphase E5000 IMO, I’d you owned a 252/300, you will not be happy with the 282/250, especially without a supercap. I just paired down from 3 boxes to an integrated with dac and I really appreciate the simplicity. The integrated cost more than the separates and ...
NAIM 282/250DR/HC2DR against Accuphase E5000 Can’t comment on Accuphase, but the 282 preamp improves dramatically with a second high cap and much more with a supercap. The 250 has only 80 watts while the Accuphase has 240(?). remember the Naim will involve a lot of boxes, cables and Naim spe...
Amp match for Chartwell LS6? The Heed integrated amps sound very good with the L6s.
Halloween Topic - Musicians and deals with the Devil Not really up on the new up and comers, but Clifford Brown was in his early 20’s when he recorded most of his records. He died at 25. When you listen to the maturity of his playing, I always asked myself how it was possible that such a young music...
Pleasurably better, not measurably better I think a lot of audiophiles talk about what sounds better.
Speakers to audition with Exposure 3510 I would also consider Graham/Chartwell speakers. But spendors are excellent as well.
Cabling Recommendations With Naim Statements and 555s, I can’t believe you’re not using Naim’s cables the developed specifically for the Statement line. I don’t know about Statements specifically, but Naim amps always required cables with certain electrical characteristi... |
