Anyone heard the Luxman sq38u? No, but I'd sure like to....there's been quite a few comments on the Class A integrateds, the 550 and 590, and the higher powered 505 and 509?(I think, too many #'s to keep track of)...A little bird told me that the 38u is superb....no chance of h...
Coincident speakers Thanks, guys, for the input. Just trying to chart a course of action for the future. Been through various stages, like most people on here. I like clarity, dynamics, tonal density. About the only route I haven't yet tried is the smaller watt amp/e...
Tannoy Prestige Speakers Understood. I'd love to hear a pair. I'm envious.
Tannoy Prestige Speakers So are you buying them?
Turntable in cabinet I'd try the dynamat. It really works..be careful of sitting your table on softy things, it's gonna sog things up. As long as you have no howl I'd leave that part of the equation alone.
Zu Essence vs Martin Logan You might also check the Zu site for their "road show" tour, where they are visiting different cities...if only Audio Note would do that!! Bob, get off your duff please and hit the road!
Toe-in or NOT toe-in ?? Hi Opus, all is well! There is also the Cardas way, using the golden triangle ratio. It's fairly easy to use masking tape on the floor and slide a speaker along the line to see how it sounds. It's an interesting experiment if nothing else.My liste...
Toe-in or NOT toe-in ?? It all depends on the speaker.Opus, equilateral triangle setup and rule of thirds are not the same. Rule of thirds is dividing the room in thirds starting off the back wall.
amp question Philip, I'd think you'd get better sound regardless of stand/component quality if you just moved it out from behind your left speaker. A full Shindo or Crimson system wouldn't benefit from that location! If your question is does good setup matter,...
Integrated for Harbeth Small Room System Luxman, yes, Sugden, yes, Ayre, no way. Also consider LFD, Lavardin.Have fun!
Luxman L505u . . . why not? It's called the price of doing business in your own country. If you continue to buy greymarket, I may never get to hear a Luxman in the states. Why wouldn't a huge city like Chicago not carry Luxman? Why are more brick and mortar stores closing? I...
How reliable are EAR amps The amps are built like a tank - extremely reliable, plus, they sound great. The newer 890 is a wonderful amp.Elizabeth, I liked your story.....thanks for sharing.
Luxman L505u . . . why not? I was initially interested in your thread for the sound of the luxman, not the ethical part of the question, for I've been wanting to hear one. Recently went to Chicago, no Luxman--yet. So then I thought about what if I was a dealer wanting to bri...
Anyone heard of Tannoy Turnberry HE speakers? No I haven't, but I'd like to. There was talk recently on Pink Fish of the Glenairs, and most of the Tannoy folks were saying they are least like the classic Tannoys in sound, and not as widely accepted. They got a good review on 6moons...
Zu or Harbeth Mike, seems like you're in a good position to be in!Tvad, yes, that's the same Bob...he used to review for Positive Feedback, hence his speaker threads, and now since he has Amherst he writes music reviews instead.I'd sure like to hear the AN-E's,... |
