Recording quality by decade
Onhwy61,That makes sense to me.It would seem that keeping the recording pathway simple and straightforward and avoiding the added manipulation is preferable. I'm glad jazz didn't succumb to the over processing trend.Regards,
Recording quality by decade
I can't comment on the rock recordings but the jazz recording quality is special from the 1950's-60's. The majority of mine sound exceptional from various labels, Comtemporary, Prestige, Riverside, Verve, Columbia and there're certainly others.Amo...

The drumming issue is a good point. Why are some drums heard the width of the stage? Is this due to multiple microphones on the drum kit? Then there are recordings with the drums heard realistically in a defined space. Is this due to using a single ...
AC power delivery and Power conditioners.
I agree with Rosceiii, consider a balanced AC power unit.I use a BPT that has 20 amp capacity and it is excellent. My entire system is plugged into it.I`ve had mine 4 years and it is worth every cent I payed for it.Regards,
Equitech Son of Q vs. BPT
Both products are high quality and have earned their status as premium level components and I doubt you`d go wrong with either. I`ve had the BPT BP-3.5 Signature plus for just over 4 years. It is superb and increased the sound quality across the b...

Demar,I've found that in my system the type of presentation depends on the recording itself.Regards,

Meant to write the 100 watt PP amp had a bit more bass presence and authority. In terms of tactile presence and realism of venue ambiance the SET 300b is more convincing. You feel you`re in the same space as the live performers,I like that.Regards,

Frogman,Another thoughtful post as usual. For someone who does`nt have a 300b based system you sure described their attributes very well.To tell the truth you can play pretty much any genre of music'with the proper speaker match'.All amplifiers reg...

Rx8man,I appreciate the input given here. I placed probably more importance on actual owners/user impressions than reviews.I `ve found most owners to be quite candid and truthful about their experiences.Regards,
Modwright Oppo 105
This a good example of solving the core problem.I`d always start with contacting the builder and going from there. Chasing different tubes, cables etc. would cost unnecesary money and increased frustration with no resolution to the problem.Regards,
Modwright Oppo 105
Jfz,Dan`s response confirmed my suspicion that this was simply a faulty unit. I`ve heard this ModWright 105 for extended sessions and it is a marvelous sounding player. You`ll find out soon enough once your problem is corrected. You made an excelle...

Agisthos,Thanks for your input, what you describe is precisely what I want. High resolution but in a honest and "natural" form. There`s plenty of natural color, harmonics and tone in acoustic instruments and voice.I want to retain as much of this ...
Ocellia vs Tannoy?
The Ocellia has an adjustable door/port on the rear lower cabinet to allow placement in rooms of different dimensions. That 'may' be of some benefit in a room this size.Regards,

Fplanner2000,Thanks,I`m getting the sense from owners such as you and reading reviews that it is`nt an uber detail artificial sounding type of product.I don`t see as much written about the digital version compared to the analog cable. I`ll assume ...

agisthos,Thanks for your response,I`ll give them some serious thought.I`m seeking a pure natural character yet high resolution cable(not hifi hyper detail emphasis).Regards,
