tube amp goes with coincident total victory ii ??
Winsound,So much depends on room size, music genre and preferred listening levels. My Coincident speaker is 94 db sensitive with a 14 ohm load. I've driven it with a 40 watt PP El34 amp and a 100 watt (60 watt triode mode) KT 88/6550 PP amplifier....

All the amps listed would work well with your speakers.I agree with Dr.David`s opinion of the Coincident Frankenstein SET,he described it accurately.Regards,

Hi Keith,Jordan has an exceptionally large listening area yet overall he is very happy with all three of his amplifers despite their different power ratings. It seems someone with a typically smaller room than his would do well with a 300b SET with...
TAD Evolution 1 vs Thiel CS3.7
The Thiel with a high powered SS amplifier and the Tannoy with a tube amp are so vastly different in presentation. I can't imagine someone truly preferring one would have any remote interest in the other, these are two unrelated camps of listeners...
after TT upgrade, digital sounds like crap- help
Chayro, I'm with you, both formats can sound very good or not so good, depends on what you're using and the setup. Sweeping proclamations that one blows rhe other away hasn't been the case in my experience. Some records and turntables are dogs as ...
Jazz for aficionados
Rok,Your comment about You Tube is so true.I`ll pick a song, say,"It never entered my mind", or "These Foolish Things" and just enjoy the variuos versions, vocal or instrumental. What a great resource it is.Charles,

Nonoise,Actually you got a lot right right! The"thereness" factor, tactile presence and lit up from within are spot on.Your comments about bass and treble are also right in some cases.I was just pointing out that a "good" SET amp driving an appropr...

Hi Nonoise,I agree with your general description of SET amplifiers except the bass and high frequencies. The individual SET amp quality and proper speaker choice make all the difference, ranging from just OK to the sumblime level.SET well implement...
NCore vs. Ice -- single or separate cases
Vicdamone,Thanks, I've read very positive comments about the new generation of the Carver tube amplifiers. It's a good and smart design that they are easy on the output tubes for extended lifespan. Regards,
NCore vs. Ice -- single or separate cases
Hi Vicdamone,I'm curious, why N core in your studio but Carver amplifiers at home?Regards,

Nonoise,If you're getting SET sound(which I love when done right) from your SS Marantz amplifier that's quite an achievement. Congratulations and continue to enjoy your music. Regards,
CD vs CD/SACD Player – Tube-based or Not
Nonoise,A number of comment on various forums support what you wrote about the upper level Marantz players. The Esoteric gets many raves but I find them to sound lean and clinical/analytical rather than natural/organic. Have you heard any Esoteric...
Favorite 300B: Sophia vs KR
Onemug,Good points, I wouldn't advise anyone to use their output tubes 24/7.I do have my amps on 8-12 hours on some days and have had no problems. The 300b is long lasting if not pushed hard by circuit design as you noted.Regards,

Germanboxers,It's interesting that the CSL out performs the DAC direct with the Audion Black Shadow amplifier. Yet with its stablemate the Frankenstein it was "slightly" bettered by the direct route. Just confirms once again that each individual s...
