Preamp Noise with High-Efficiency Speakers
Roscoeiii and Grannyring,I know others who patiently tried various passive components in their system based on the predicted advantages. Ultimately they returned to high quality active linestages as they provided a more realistic and natural sound...
Stillpoints and reference-level speakers
Glory,The Stillpoints get rave reviews universally(they may warrant them,I don`t know). Over the years I`ve found word of mouth comments from actual product owners on sites like this are often more valuable and insightful.Charles,
Berkeley DAC Series 1, anything better 2.5K$
Two DACs,two different listeners with their individual systems=two opposing opinions. There`s nothing unusual about that, they may prefer different wines and automobiles as well. I love the many choices available in audio components, something for e...
Stillpoints and reference-level speakers
Psag,Each device will have its own theory for why/how they work better than another.I don`t know which is superior, I can say that the Apprentice are very effective with their mechanical grounding approach. For all I know the Stillpoints could be ...
Stillpoints and reference-level speakers
Tboooe, I don`t know if you have a price point limit or not. The brass Audio points are a good product but the Apprentice(which includes these same points) is very much worth the added cost for speakers.Charles,

Teajay,Wow! very interesting findings. I just got the Star Sound Apprentice platforms a week ago and completely agree with what you wrote. I have them under components(very good results) and speakers(the most impactful location) utterly improved n...
Berkeley DAC Series 1, anything better 2.5K$
Cerrot, With all due respect, Sabai clearly stated he "owned" the Berkley DAC (as well as AMR and EMM which are even more expensive!) so money obviously is`nt an issue for him. You seem hung up on the price of an audio component and its review sta...
Berkeley DAC Series 1, anything better 2.5K$
Cerrot,You can believe what you want, thats fine. My point is that in high audio end there's no direct correlation with higher cost results in better sound quality. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It's certainly conceivable the NAD M51 may sound bett...
Do we still need 6550 or KT88 tubes?
I have to agree with Wolf Garcia, the KT120 has been widely used and approved by many. I've not read or heard reports of reliability issues. People seem to be very happy with them.
Marian McPartland
I really enjoyed her piano jazz program for years, so many good musician interviews and the duet performances. She had a very long and productive life.I'll miss her a lot. Regards,
Cedar Walton RIP
Sad for me, Cedar Walton was one of my favorite jazz pianist. Unfortunately we're losing many great musicians of his generation. I'll be able to continue to enjoy his legacy via his recordings and the memory of seeing him perform live. Regards,

Hello Jordan,Gon member Agear (Andrew) has used Star Sound stands and the Stillpoint products with his speakers. You may want to email him via the site for his experiences. Joe congratulations, I think you'll be very pleased with the Frankenstein-...
High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz
Agisthos,You summed up the attributes of the HF CTI line of cables very well. To my ears they seem to preserve audio signal integrity with very little editorializing. So a higher resolving system provides a more natural sound and less hifi artific...

Jordan,There's been much talk about the use of the Stillpoins SS and Ultra 5 versions. I'll tell you, I recently purchased the Star Sound Apprentice platforms and beneath my speakers they have made a significant improvement in performance. They're...
