Cube Audio Nenuphar Single Driver Speaker (10 inch) TQWT Enclosure
David,I'm not surprised that  stepping up to a higher quality better  engineered brass spike would  be noticeable. Better vibration/resonance management is a worthwhile  pursuit. Particularly a speaker the high caliber of the Nenuphar will easily ...
A change in efficiency to the final sound
Yes the input stage is class A as are nearly all input /preamplifier sections in amplifiers (power or integrated). I was referencing the  KT 88 "output stage" which is class AB. Pentodes can be wired to function in triode mode.Charles
A change in efficiency to the final sound
I don’t believe that the VAC amplifier switches between SET and push pull (PP) operation. Rather it switches between PP triode versus PP ultra linear output. This particular VAC amplifier  is a class AB circuit. SET amplifiers are by default pure ...
Vandersteen 2ce Signature vs Tekton Double Impact
Different opinions should not initiate a flame war. Audio is about as subjective as any endeavor could be. That’s exactly why several posters have explicitly recommended listening to these various speakers and making your own determination as to t...
Vandersteen 2ce Signature vs Tekton Double Impact
Jeffvegas,Vandersteen is well established and a very well respected company that has stood the test of time for "decades". Tekton is far less established and a smaller company that lacks comparable cache in the High End community. With this acknow...
Cube Audio Nenuphar Single Driver Speaker (10 inch) TQWT Enclosure
Saleh84,Your Gryphon is an excellent amplifier "with the right speaker". Some speakers demand amplifiers with high current delivery with lower output impedance due to low and difficult to drive load characteristics and often steep phase angles. Th...
Cube Audio Nenuphar Single Driver Speaker (10 inch) TQWT Enclosure
Hi sale84,Your situation is totally expected and predictable. The designer/builder has clearly stated the Cube Audio Nenuphar is specifically meant to be used with amplifiers possessing 1 little or no NFB2 Relatively high output impedance 3 low da...
Hornshoppe "the Truth" preamp - any opinions?
Hi Bill,Thank you for taking the time to post your clear and detailed listening impressions of what are excellent line stages via your home audio system. The stock Truth line stage has received universal praise so I can only imagine how wonderful ...
Anyone experienced the Luxman MQ-300 or/and The Air Tight ATM-300R?
h_bomb,I can understand your preference for the 300b compared to the KT 88 amp you currently have. The KT 88 is a very good sounding tube if well implemented. However IMO a well implemented 300b is quite formidable and alluring 😊. I was a happy ow...
Anyone experienced the Luxman MQ-300 or/and The Air Tight ATM-300R?
Hi h_bomb,You’ve confirmed something I’ve written numerous times on this forum, you just have to audition audio components and listen for yourself. What satisfies one listener may not satisfy another. Simply too many personal taste/preference fact...
Saxaphone vs. Trumpet...Which do you prefer?
Jazz trumpeters playing ballads in the mid and low register of that magnificent instrument, utter musical beauty. Think Gene Tierney or Grace Kelly. I could be happy with Gene,  Grace or Sophia. Different flavors, all good.Charles
Anyone experienced the Luxman MQ-300 or/and The Air Tight ATM-300R?
Let us know your listening impressions if you don’t mind. Would like to know  how you find its music reproduction compared to the Luxman KT 88 push pull amplifier you are currently using with this 91 db sensitive speaker..Charles
Luxman - Shindo - Mcintosh ?
Mark,As tswista says the Coincident Frankenstein is a superb sounding SET amplifier that would IMO work well with your 97 db sensitivity 16 ohm (very easy load speakers). . If a used Frankenstein is not available in your price range consider the C...
Anyone experienced the Luxman MQ-300 or/and The Air Tight ATM-300R?
Well, given your listening levels and room size who knows? The pairing could ’possibly’ meet your needs/expectations. . It will be interesting to see how your current Luxman compares to the MQ-300 and or the AirTight SETs.Charles
Anyone experienced the Luxman MQ-300 or/and The Air Tight ATM-300R?
H_bomb,Your current amplifier is a 25 watt push pull circuit. So probably about 4 or 5 db more than the 8 watt MQ-300. If you’re listening at your typical SPLs with the volume control (VC) at the 9 o’clock position it suggests that there’re is exc...
