Best vintage DD turntables from the 70's and 80's? Lenco is nice, but the title of this topic is Direct Drive
Complimentary 2nd Cartridge/Tonearm for Dr. Feickert Blackbird Miyajima Shilabe or Kansui for ’12 inch Schick will be completely different and on the warm side.
New TT for ~$1500 OP here. I appreciate everyone's feedback. I went ahead and got an SL-1210GR with a Hana SL. Great! I hope later you will find some MM or MI to compare different carts to your MC
Technics You can use so many different cartridges on Technics tonearm so you don’t have to worry about it! Just don’t use low compliace cartridges. Mid or High compliance are all fine!
Next step in Turntable Try this if you considering classics (direct drive) for two tonearms.
Tonearms for reference 78 RPM system Technics SP-10R Thomas Schick "12 inch tonearm (great price). It was nice in my system before I bought Reed.
Next step in Turntable Chakster, those feet are not isolation. The only thing they do is make the owner feel good. Did you read the manual for AT616? Everything explained very well with test results and measurements by Audio-Technica. Those pneumatic feet are great insu...
Next step in Turntable Very pretty turntable setup It must sound very nice . Why did you pick the reed arm vs others? My one buddy has a tri-planer Reed 3p “12inch Cocobolo with cryo-treated phono cable and WBT RCA is my version. This tonearm is fully adjustable “on th...
Concerned about my cart/pre pairing To be honest, a high gain phono stage for 0.3 mV cartridge is not necessary, a high gain phono stage is required for 0.05 mV or 0.15 mV cartridges and those very low output carts can be problematic even with SUT, Headamp or phono stage. Personally...
Technics SL1000 MK3 (SP10 MK3) performance/value VS modern turntables? Do you know which engine and turntable model the sensor was extracted from to run your 101? From another Victor TT, but I don't know the details, JP responsible for that.
Concerned about my cart/pre pairing It still sounds good, but on the occasion I do crank the volume to near max (50-60 out of 60) What is 60?50-60% out of 100% ? 58db Gain should be enough for 0.3mV cartridge. On one of my phono stages I use 60db gain for lower output (0.25 mV) car...
Tonearms for reference 78 RPM system Technics SP-10R Definitely too heavy for EPA tonearm, but Technics made additional ring weight for superheavy cartridges. I think the limit normally SPU weight (30 - 32g) for Lustre, but only with ring weight and heavy counterweight (if you can find a NOS sample ...
Kuzma 4Points and Lyra carts It’s not everything, but life span of a conical is short, hard to argue about it. When the same cartridge retipped with advanced profile people are more happy (read about those Denon enthusiasts :). I don’t know anyone who will go backwards (from...
Phasemation (Phase-Tech) MC cartridges I'm surprised this firm doesn't get more recognition here in the States. Yes, especially in this digital world. I'm wondering why some brands are very popular in Japan and almost unknown in the rest of the world. I can imagine this situation wi...
Cartridge recommendations? @mr_m When OP looking for a HIGH COMPLIANCE cartridge your recommendation for a LOW COMPLIANCE cartridge for the same person is strange. Lightmass tonearm is the reason for High Compliance cartridge. If you do not follow OP’s request then you can ... |
