Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
I'm just collect the arguments, i do not take anyone's opinion too seriously. Jonathan Carr did not find any advantages in Raul's long time favorite 100c mk4, but he has mentioned Victor L-1000 MC as very unique design with tiny printed coil right...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Unfortunately J.Carr's statement is outdated on this forum, but the Ledermann's statement is dated October 2017 and he speak about MI (not MM). It worth to watch just to see Peter and to check some technical data he's talking about.
Grace Level ll
@lewm i would like to learn more about ceramic cantilever made by Grace. I know nothing about it. Hope someone can help. It’s been said a lot about the other things in audio made of ceramic (mats, clamps etc). BTW i use very rare Noritake ceramic...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Mr. Peter Ledermann of the SoundSmith could post in our thread too, i just realized he's not a fan of MC cartridges at all (serviced many thousands of them). In the middle of this video he explain the advantages of MI cartridges over MC. And Strai...
Can't set rake angle right even lowest VTA (digital microscope checked)
Everyone should look at this picture to understand how to meassure correct SRA with the most compliacated diamonds like Fritz Gyger 80 or Ortofon Repliacant 100. If someone is trying to make the whole diamond perpendicular to the record surface by...
Can't set rake angle right even lowest VTA (digital microscope checked)
@goldeneardoc Your stylus is Nude Fritz Gyger 80 which is similar to Ortofon Replicant 100 stylus. Read this, there are better illustration of what hdm said: https://www.ortofon.com/hifi/products/hifi-cartridges/mc-anna/set-up

I would like to find more information about extremely rare Ceramic Cantilever used in one of the Level II RC/FC (OFC) model from 1984.It’s interesting that stylus replacement with Grace Ceramic Cantilever and Line Contact stylus priced by the manu...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Not sure "what's the best", Harold, i think it can be the best of the month only :) But i like Joseph Grado Signature TXZ (MI) model. Those Decca are the uglies in my chart, but i never owned any of them and i don't think i have tonearm for them.
Audio Technica AT ML-180 Cartridge Advice
Well, i don't make such conclussion about cantilevers apart from the cartridge this cantilever designed for. As i said i have all types of cantilevers on my original cartridges (beryllium, sapphire, boron, titanium, aluminium etc) except maybe a d...
MONO cartridge recommendation
If i will need a Mono cartridge then Miyajima would be my first buy.
Audio Technica AT ML-180 Cartridge Advice
@nandric BTW beryllium is better cantilever material than boron.Even better than ’’gold plated boron ’’ I can say for sure what is better in terms of cantilevers (i like beryllium on some carts, i like boron on others, and even aluminum on some o...
Audio Technica AT ML-180 Cartridge Advice
@ateal the guy you are quoting know nothing about the difference between two models if he think that 180 is Beryllium (in fact it is Boron). However there is a comment about the difference between 180 and all others (which is correct). I think i a...
Audio Technica AT ML-180 Cartridge Advice
@rauliruegas  well, it's not easy to sell broken carts even if the repair service available, to find MM cart equal to AT-ML180 is not easy, especially for the price for repair (about 350 pounds).I'm not sure why do you think one service in UK is b...
Audio Technica AT ML-180 Cartridge Advice
I just want to add one very important thing you have missed. The generator of your AT-ML180 is electrically different from all previous models, so it is not designed to use styli from lower models. Most likely those styli will never sound correct ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
I can't remember anyone praised V15 in this thread, but i remember the statement that Clearaudio use the Audio-Technica generator in their MM cartridges. My first switch from MM/MI to LOMC was very impressive until i discovered many more MM cartri...
