Do I need a sut?
I use my Ortofon MC200 with Luxman TYPE-8020 + TYPE-8030 MC transformer connected to JLTi MM phono stage (47k Ohm). The TYPE-8030 silver trans designed for cartridges with 1.5 Ω ~ 3.5 Ω impedance. I do not have a hum problems, but it is not the qu...
Luxman SQ-N100 amp with built-in MM phono stage
Well, i just bought this SQ-N100 amp with built-in MM phono stage and Headphone amp., it was hard to resist. You know me as a fan of the Luxman PD-444 turntables, we will see how is the amp. My sample was Made in Japan. From the history of Luxman...
additional processing and customs charges on goldring 1006 or nagaoka mp150
@yogiboy LP gear sells both of those brands without those charges! The charges are on the custom conrol on arrival, not by the shop on departure. I’ve never heard about import tax in the USA, but there is always import tax in Europe for example....

@brianmoriarty Have you seen this video about Grado Labs https://youtu.be/L2ZpJHGYMC8 ? Very interesting. One of the best Grado MI i have ever heard is Joseph Grado signature XTZ model from the 80s, the price was $750 back in the days. I've manage...

@glennewdick Most MM manufactures build for 47k ohms you would get more out of the MM cart by having selectable capacitance. MC you want selectable resistance (or as we say loading it). This is not true, nearly ALL top quality MM cartridges are ...
Age old discussion I know but MM or MC? Benefits?
@totem395  A family relative of your Stanton 980LSZ is the Pickering XLZ-7500 and one I recently purchased with a very low output of .33 mvand 3 ohm rating.Another interesting Pickering is the XSV-5000 although not a superlow output at 3.8 mv a v...

Absolutely no problem to mount any cartridge on your turntable/headshell since you will have a dedicated overhang gauge with your pioneer turntable for pioneer tonearm, it will take 5 minutes to set up your cart in the headshell correctly with tha...

@drf24 you can pay less to get much better quality if you will look for MM/MI cartridges made on peak of the MM boom (in the 70s). This is one of them with nude Shibata stylus tip. Yes, the 100k Ohm option will open up the potential of almost any ...

Why not just stay with MM phono stage, but upgraded it to 100k Ohm with Vishay naked Foil Resistors? You can use some of the best MM cartridge with your phono stage without any needs for an MC and MC phono stage. Loaded your MM cartridge with 100k...
Age old discussion I know but MM or MC? Benefits?
I just bought nearly all top MM cartridges from our "best of the month" list over the years, and i also bought several top quality vintage MC cartridges that our "opinion makers" considered the best only a few years ago. I did the same with the vi...

Upgrade from clearaudio concept MC cart
Many years ago we have clarified that Clear Audio MM generators is actually an Audio-Technica, if you will search for the Virtuoso then you will find an old posts by Raul and Nandric. If you're considering an MM cartridge that is actually not in h...
Age old discussion I know but MM or MC? Benefits?
@the_treble_with_tribbles The lowest output (0.6 mv) MM cartridge is Stanton 980LSZ - an old exciting magnetic cartridge design concept from the 1980. The 980LZS offer "low impedance" and will work directly into the Moving Coil (MC) input instead ...
Upcoming Technics SP-10R (100th Anniversary Model)
Oh, it’s real :) Thanks for the video, so it is a rubber and alluminum. And those new armboards can be screwed to the old sp10 series too. I was more impressed by what’s the guy showed to Fremer on his iPad in this video (after 17:00). Probably my...

The image with 3 tonearms is actually a 3D model, not a photo. Even 2 tonearms is too much for this design, but 3 of them on some side brackets looks very strange. It's all because of the square chassis. https://images.cdn.whathifi.com/sites/whath...
