I need a headshell recommendation for Technics 1200 GAE
@invictus005 Here is detailed explanation of what is Effective Mass, someone posted all that before, i will just quote again:  "So effective mass in not mass - it's inertia! In fact, even the common measurement (in metric grams) is a misconceptio...
Luxman SQ-N100 amp with built-in MM phono stage
@thiefoflight do you know who is the manufacturer of those Luxman branded tubes? I think they are made in Russia (Sovtek) or they are Mullard re-issue (made in Russia)? Over the years i’ve been looking for best NOS tubes and when i ordered Luxman ...
I need a headshell recommendation for Technics 1200 GAE
@invictus005 Since most of this mass happens to be at the end, effective mass of the tonearm can increase to 19-25 grams, or so. You can not change effective mass by adding heavier headshell, the effective mass in not just a mass, it is not that...

Rega RP8 or Technics SL1200G
@cleeds Ah, i see now, but the counterweight on the FR-64 you prefered over the Lustre 801 is also not on the same level as record. Actually all classic tonearms have their counterweight not on the same level as record. Do you think they are all b...
review iPhono 2
Dear Doug, i've been trying iPhono2 and in my opinion it's too bright, the bass can't compete with the more expensive phono stages. But as i said i'm a big fan of MM cartridges. With LOMC cartridges iPhono impressed me more, but still not as good ...
Rega RP8 or Technics SL1200G
@sid1 I think people get caught up into to thinking because of the looks that this is a DJ table and yes they can use it, but Technics is clearly going for the Audiophile this time around and actually they were trying to do it with the original, ...
Rega RP8 or Technics SL1200G
@cleeds It sounds like you're talking about different tonearm. Could you explain what do you mean by "better geometry" of GST-801? Look here, it's Baerwald and it's dead on the right geometry. I also don't understand what do you mean by  "not gett...
Rega RP8 or Technics SL1200G
@cleeds FR-64fx is lighweight tonearm, less popular than high mass FR-64s for some reason. Lustre GST-801 is universal, i use it with FR-7f cartridge (also with SPU Royal G mkII, it's about about 32g. weight). Lustre GST-801 also works fine with m...
New Technics SL1200G turntable
Everyone should watch this video first. This guy (not Mr.Fremer) did the great job comparing actual data. There is a speed issue. Very interesting @avanti1960 As for the Mr.Fremer's video i prefer the sound of Continuum Caliburn With SAT Arm on ...
Grado Statement cartridges - load at 47km or lower

Looking for not too expensive Turntable
I don’t know any other top class turntables with such a high torque like the SP-10mk2 (or mk3). In terms of usability this is the best, i wish all my DD could immediately start/stop like the SP-10mk2 or at lest like the Technics SP-20. But none of...
Upcoming Technics SP-10R (100th Anniversary Model)
here is the video of this monster with multiply tonearmsand this is another video from agalog planet Reed 3p "12 would be a great match to this deck, the stock arm looks too cheap for such expensive turntable, still hard to get rid of the SL1200mk...
Cartridge for a Pioneer PL 630?
There are many cartridges that "can fit", but what about the sound quality?Maybe you can find Astatic FM100 or MF200 or Glanz MF31L in $200-300 category, none of the entry level Grado can compete with them. And the Moving Flux generator is unique ...
