Do I need a sut?
After a brief listening session with my Ortofon MC-2000 i can say that iPhono2 with 72db gain is not the best choice for such a low output cartridge :(In fact i have much better result with my Luxman 8030 Silver SUT (1:32 / 30db) from the 80s. The...

@jcarr It is true that in the first part of the 1970s JVC focused on MMs, but after JVC launched its first MC cartridge, the MC-1 direct-scan design in 1977, they focused on this family as their flagship range.http://20cheaddatebase.web.fc2.com/ne...

I got iPhono2 from a friend to try with my Ortofon MC2000, this phono stage has 72dB gain, so we will see how it works with MC2000 compared to the SUT i use now with this cartridge.
Upcoming Technics SP-10R (100th Anniversary Model)
Raul, i just tried to say that EPA-MKII was not available before the release of SP-10MK3 turntable and SL1000mk3 combo, until 1982. After anyone is free to use the arm on whatever turntable, they are paired very well (aesthetically) with a rare bl...
Trying vinyl, need some help!
@drf24 I know this isnt always true in practice but I guess the only way to find out is to buy a MC and MM at the same price point and see which one I enjoy more. The key is not the price point, but a quality of the cartridge, MM is always cheap...

@jcarr Thanks for your comment, JonathanIt’s always nice to have an inside from the industry leaders Last year I had the pleasure of listening to the same exact album on LP and R2R. If I recall correctly, the tape deck was a Sonorous Audio ATR 10 ...

@roberjerman then you should try a decent MM/MI cartridges like Grace F-14 LC-OFC with Boron/Micro Ridge, Grace LEVEL II, Stanton 981 with Stereohedron or Stanton WOS, Grado Signature XTZ, Pioneer PC-1000 MKII, AT-ML180 OCC, Glanz MFG-61 , Victor ...

@lewm ... it just happened that the MkIII and the EPA100 MkII were introduced contemporaneously, or nearly so. EPA-100mkII tonearm and SP-10mk3 turntable were introduced in 1982 together. This limited edition tonearm was made for SL1000mk3 combo...

Grace, Pioneer, Audio-Technica, Victor used beryllium cantilevers in their top of the line cartridges, then it was prohibited and Boron became the top choice. I’m not trying to say that beryllium is better than Boron, but Beryllium is definitely b...

EPA-100 tonearm was made for SP-10 mk IIEPA-100 MK II was made for SP-10 mk III The difference between the SP-10mk2 and SP-10mk3 is huge. The difference between an old EPA-100 and upgraded EPA-100 mkII for Technics flagship turntable must be huge ...

@invictus005 12g does not work well for low compliance cartridges, you need 20-30g effective mass to be optimal for DL-103, Ortofon SPU and many other low compliance carts. Pioneer made for professional market, the company itself is DJ oriented no...

@roberjerman I use a Denon 103R mc cartridge on it. Way better than any MM cartridge! Have you tried all MM cartridges to make such statement for a cheap MC with a conical tip and alluminum cantilever? Even DL-107 MM cartridge is much better tha...

This post is a nonsense from the start, sorry.I'm not sure why do you need vinyl then? You'll more happy with a digital.

@jmcgrogan2  Still, I believe that any SUT is designed to be plugged into MM inputs, though I could be wrong. ONLY MM (47k Ohm) input, right Most MC stages are simply MM stages with SUT’s built into the preamp. So I don’t think you should plug a ...
