Turntable versus tonearm versus cartridge: which is MOST important?
It’s the most stupid point I have ever heard that a cartridge can’t perform without tonearm and therefore tonearm is more important.Your turntable can’t work without electricity, so let’s say pure electricity is more important than everything else...
Cost to Rewire a Tonearm?
LOL. Why do you want to rewire your new Russian tonearm?
Matching cartridge to phono pre amp. pF!?
Only 100pF. The 2m Bronze MM specs says it prefers 150-300pF. You can increase pF it with phono cable length. Look at the phono cable specs.
Cost to Rewire a Tonearm?
@lewm I never paid anything for rewire in Russia, we did it with my friends (with Technics and Lustre tonearms) many times, it was super easy, took no more than 1 hour.I paid $150 to a technician in Asia for an EPA-100 rewire.I always provided my ...
Cost to Rewire a Tonearm?
The OP did not ask about the cost of the cables, some of you can easily pay absolutely crazy amount for a short piece of super thin litz wire (for internal part of the tonearm). He asked about the cost of some pro to do the job.As I said it depend...
Cost to Rewire a Tonearm?
It depends on the tonearm, but $100-150 should be enough for the job.
An. Prod. reissues: 45RPMs vs 33RPM test pressing.
Test press are for musicians (if they are alive) and producers for approval. They are NOT FOR SALE. Without approval of the test press no one will press the rest. Test press is a final test for quality. Normally it’s 5-10 test press copies, but fo...
Thoughts on moving from a 1200G to Sota Saphire or above
I do not play, and I would venture to guess most of us do not play 7" singles. That is a non issue for most of us. @mijostyn I’m following AudioGrail on instagram, he often plays Vintage 45s. The British always paid more attention to American heri...
Turntable versus tonearm versus cartridge: which is MOST important?
So, which would sound better:A state of the art $10K cartridge on a $500 table/arm or a good $500 cartridge on a $10K table/arm? It’s a weird question, you’re trying to put together something very cheap and something very expensive. Ask yourself w...

Very few old records go in farther than 65mm. If you want to know there are at least about 10mm of music on the record surface on most of the 45 rpm (’7 inch) singles, the song ends at 53-55mm from the spindle (not as far as 65mm). On average ’7 ...
can I damage my LPs by using a DJ setup -no scatch
The life span of your spherical bonded tip is very short (especially at 3g tracking force with back cueing), you have to change your styli every 150-200 hrs. Sooner or later so called cue burn will appear in the beginning of each song you are djin...

Regarding cart @chakster, I appreciate the feedback. I’ve kind of built my system to accommodate the low output of the Cadenza Black and would like to stay in that performance range. To compare, I may order a cart from a place I can return if it d...

@chakster , I set up the new table to Lofgren B and I very much like it. Most modern pressings do not go in as far. Very few records go in farther than 65 mm and at 65mm Lofgren B has the same harmonic distortion it has at 90mm, 0.03% Lower than a...

Weak points of the 1200G are tonearm, bearing and power supply. All can be upgraded here - http://www.soundhifi.com/sl1200/Timestep%20Technics%20EVOke%20%20SL-1200GAE%202018.htm Same old BS.Some companies are always happy to sell something for ast...
Cartridges with that musical coherence - having heard it, I need to learn more
Surprised no one has mentioned Miyajima. My Miyajima Premium has an incredible coherency. It is a mono cart though. I can confirm that Miyajima stereo carts are excellent, but almost every reviewer praised Shilabe or Kansui. In my old thread ...
