Reed 3p is nice, I bought mine in Luthuania about 8 years ago, which version do you have? @fsonicsmith I bought a demo version from them, it’s Cocobolo (18g effective mass) 12 inch, cryo treated copper wire.
Turntable versus tonearm versus cartridge: which is MOST important?
A lot of people use Hana’s on quite good TT’s in that price category, as an example. Do you know Denon DL-103 ? It’s a $280 cartridge with Spherical tip, it was designed in the 60s, still in production. How can you explain the popularity of this ...
Was this Technics set up for Radio or Nightclub?

Need help with MM cartridge choice
I’ve stumbled across a good deal on a Rega Planar 3 fitted with a Grace G-747 that looks to be an excellent choice for my second / MM table. It has an old ADC on it that almost certainly needs a new stylus and I was never very fond of the ADC soun...
My kiseki Blackheart nightmare.
What can be worse than a very expensive cartridge made with poor quality control, and dealers who do not want to help their customers once there is a serious problem with the product they are selling. It was one of the reasons I stopped buying new ...

A local dealer who has assembled system well north of $1 million, and has many customers with systems costing more than $100,000, will recommend as worthy tables reconditioned Thorens 124 and Garrard 301 or 401 tables with Ortofon tonearms. Som...

What better MM cartridge than Clearaudio's Maestro for €1.000 do you suggest? You only mention LOMC. But thank you for your advice. German ClearAudio MM carts built around Audio-Technica generator supplied from Japan. Audio-Technica is one of...
Questions on Overhang/Cartridge Alignment using Dr Feikert Protractor on VPI Classic 3
Seeing the cantilever from all angles is easy. I did not even have to use the magnifier. If you can see through to afford it, it is most definitely worth it. If you change cartridges frequently there is no better way to go. I don’t like the mir...
Questions on Overhang/Cartridge Alignment using Dr Feikert Protractor on VPI Classic 3
When you finished with step-1 with given PS distance (and your cart is alignet accordingly) YOU HAVE TO ROTATE THE PLATTER a little bit to put the needle tip on a target (cross) doing step-2 and step-3. Just read the manual. Without moving the pla...
Ok, what just happened? My turntable journey...thus far.
Isonoe is direct replacement of the stock Technics feet, it was originally designed for professional use (where the sound pressure and vibration are very high near the big sound system) and adopted by audiophiles, it was more efficient on OLD Tech...
Clearaudio Maestro vs Ortofon Cadenza cartridge?
I have the Clearaudio Maestro on a Clearaudio Concept TT. It’s good, and I’ve been told, that I have to pay a lot more for a better cartridge. No you don't. You can find much better MM cartridges than Clear Audio for lower price!Do you know tha...
My kiseki Blackheart nightmare.
Hana made by Excel Sound Inc - one of the biggest Japanese OEM since the 70's that returned to cartridge manufacturing after a long break.I wish you good luck finding out who Kiseki's manufacturer is :)
Ok, what just happened? My turntable journey...thus far.
I decided to throw these underneath the stock feet of the Technics. You can try ISONOE instead of stock feet (without any extra pads or whatever).
