shunyata research vs audience adept I've heard both. I have and love shunyata. Can't afford the audience.
Issues with EAC Thanks, Ckoffend. I did a manual search of the entire drive (every druve, including virtual drives, cache, etc) and the files aren't there. Yes, problem fixed with dBpower - just have to rerip a few thousand CD's. My server sounds so good, its act...
Issues with EAC They are not on the hard drive. Crazy. I am now using dBPower and it hasn't missed a track.
Why Do You Still Have Vinyl if You Don't Play it? I did end up replacing all my lps for cds but I still kept, and played, my vinyl. No way to digitize in those days (easilly).
Memory playback worse than disk... Why? Just change the setting in J River to 32 bit instead of 24. That worked for me. I had a similar issue.
Asynch USB or super clock thru S/PDIF for $3.5k? Lewinskih, I wouldn't be trying a usb interface anytime soon. The interface is inherently flawed. Always has been, always will be. I think PC audo is best in its purest form, through a sound card via an spdif 75 ohm output. Converting the usb to a...
Squeezebox Touch: jitter thru wi-fi? Better just using the spdif out put. Why reinvent the wheel? Introduces soo many problems (in addition to making digital sound acceptable).
Esoteric x series as transports I also feel you will increase performance more effectively by upgrading power cord, IC's (you gotta run it balanced for best sound), RCA caps for the unused, good isolation (I use Cera Pucs), line conditioner, etc. Cost a few grand but still cheap...
Esoteric x series as transports I have an X-03SE and a Berkeley Dac. I've used it as a transport, and its great. I think I prefer the x-03 by itself rather than through the berkeley (though the esoteric doesn't do hdcd but the berkeley does and the sound is absolutely stunning)....
Asynch USB or super clock thru S/PDIF for $3.5k? I just replaced my SB Touch with CI power supply going into an esoteric G25U clock/upsampler (touch upsampled to 176k and reclocked) into berkeley dac direct into amps. I was thrilled with the sound until I put an ESI Juli@ sound card into my PC. ...
which output setting sounds best? I haven't heard it. From the reviews, I wouldn't have an interest. The interface doesn't work for me.
What features should a good CD player have? If the Jolida has digital out, get a benchmark dac and a good digital cable. You will eventualy get a music server and will then already have the dac and good a digital cable and didn't just invest in a cd player.
Help me build a fine PC sound system I've just completed my project of installing the ESI Juli@ in my PC and running J River 16 via a 10 meter aopgee spdif cable into Esoteric clock/upsampler into Berkeley dac direct into amps. Very easy to hear the new set up totally trounce the SB ...
which output setting sounds best? Ekwisenek, It doesn't matter how much the gear costs - what matters is HOW IT SOUNDS. I appreciate the recommendations I receive on the forum. We are all in different places financially and all have different budgets. The idea is to get the best w...
which output setting sounds best? Evan, I'm just being honest. The gear mentioned is not transparent enough for the OP to be able to discern any difference between the settings he is asking. You know, its like telling your friend that he should upgrade from the $20 hdmi cable to t... |
