Best AM antenna? Also Best AM Tuner
www.ccrane.com lists some AM antennae which look well designed and built. I own their Reflect FM and it runs against my Fanfare whip nicely.
Can you help or do I have to get divorced?
Gallo Micros will work, use the small O-rings and set them on top of something. The powered subwoofer is great and you can purchase now or later the center one and rear ones that would wall mount. Actually, she might allow the flower stands that a...
Sugden in US?
Stereotypes Portland, Oregon handles the line and loves it.
TUNERS..anyone?
Luxman tuners of late 70s early 80s vintage still outperform the venerable Yamahas. Smoother, better selectivity.
Inexpensive Amp and Speakers
JC, I would go in a completely different direction. The powered Swans might be found used for under $200 and unless you MUST have a tuner you would solve a lot of problems simply.
Linn Classic--Any Alternatives?
For your kitchen, why wouldn't the NAD L-40 work? I've owned the Linn, it's sweet and I own the NAD, it's also very listenable at a fraction of the price.
What is the rating of KEF LS3/5A?
Keep the KEFs. They are wonderful. Avoid the several mistakes people make with this speaker. Don't overdrive it by placing it in too large of a room as it is a near field monitor and pair it with very decent equipment.
Integrated amps, need some help
Love the Arcam and Cyrus amps. He's right about build quality and sound. Beats the new stuff hands down. An old ONIX would also be right.
Parts connection closing.
partsexpress.com also has excellent stock of this genre of items.
Speaker suggestions wanted
I like the Gallo Micro powered sub/sat. This is a very musical and flexible system. You can contour bass for this situation and the sats are quite good. The Harbeth suggestion is also quite good. Cheers.
1000 budget for speakers and integrated - HELP
Second the Audio Refinement as it really is the champion in this league. Vote Totem Arros used for speakers. Bit bass shy, but oh the imaging and and voicing, particularly for the genres of music you listen to. Kestrels are a bit distant and non-i...
NAD takes on the Krell Beast 1800 vs 6700??
The Emperor has not clothes. I've listened to Krell over the past 5 years, but only occassionally as I find it to truly be some of the most unmusical equipment available. It is quick, solid and extremely harsh. NAD has over its history at least al...
Interconnects at modest cost?
Wireworld and LAT International make great inexpensive interconnects which are quite musical.
