XLR out on a tuner?
Based on the Denon specs sheet, output voltage is the same regardless of the output selected. That’s not usually the case if the XLR outputs derive from a balanced circuit. Compare with the MD tuners having balanced XLR outs vs their RCA outs. The...
Have transports improved for Redbook CD playback?
@fixedincome It seems as though the Cambridge unit is a complete blu-ray player (with built-in DAC).
Is Social Media the demise of audio review publications?
I think we can reach a consensus that few to no bots exist in these forum threads...
Have transports improved for Redbook CD playback?
I’m going to compare my SF Ultra Jitterbug against my EA Synchro-Mesh/OTL reclocker using my CAL Delta into my Theta DS Pro Basic IIIA DAC. The Synchro-Mesh/OTL reclocker has significantly lower jitter than the Ultra Jitterbug on it’s output to th...
Have transports improved for Redbook CD playback?
@jl35 Your transport suggestion of the Nuprime CDT-8 Pro is intriguing. Seems to do a lot for the $$$.
Have transports improved for Redbook CD playback?
@jond I’m open on budget for a new transport. @erik_squires I ordered an Emperical Audio Synchro-Mesh reclocker. It seems as though that is where a significant improvement in signal processing might arise.
Have DAC’s improved for Redbook CD playback?
It seems like DAC tech has gone sideways with development of alternative digital processing formats. Nothing against that as it relates to streaming. Seems like jitter control via better reclocking circuitry could largely account for the improveme...

@ozzy I’ll defer to @douglas_schroeder to address that question.
XLR out on a tuner?
Given the price point of this tuner, I strongly suspect it is running its XLR outputs in an “unbalanced” configuration (that is, both return and shield are running to ground, like in a RCA interconnect).

@ozzy Did you go to the comments section at the very end of the article? It’s posted there and not in the body of his review.

@kingrex I’ll quote the relevant passages from Bob Smith’s comment: “Noteworthy in the above is the fact that the Capacitance doubles and the upper Cutoff Frequency (where above which the signal begins to be attenuated) almost doubles. So in the e...

@kingrex See Bob Smith’s comment at the end of this link:https://www.dagogo.com/audio-blast-schroeder-method-interconnect-placement/@ozzy See comment by @douglas_schroeder at the end of the above link with respect to his findings with the method u...

@ozzy I think @douglas_schroeder tested his method with XLR-terminated balanced IC’s. Check the longer Teo Audio thread for details. BTW, that thread—like most here—goes down several rabbit holes unrelated to the thread topic. I think Doug tested ...

@elizabeth A single cable assembly is certainly preferable to using 2 single-run cables with terminal Y-splitters at both ends. But using a set of Y-splitters (4 total for a stereo run with 4 IC’s) is inexpensive enough for one to tinker with the ...
