Current mode vs voltage mode
Sean or anyone? I had thought this thread was a question about current vs. voltage based amps. I don't see the type of I/C used as relating to how the amplification is accomplished.Sort of like Nelson Pass's amps are current driven whereas most ar...
Gainclone chip amp
The 3875 is lowest power - maybe 20-40 watts. Others are higher power 60-100 watts if memory serves me.
Need small speaker for less than $750. Ideas?
Try RAW Acoustics full range monitor for $640.00. I can't think of a better speaker to fit your needs.
Isolation for speakers on spikes
Heres an interesting article:The Sound of Surprise
Buying decision time, or Time for a sanity check?
I buy if I think I will be satisfied with the product. But since hi-end audio is largely about:* creating dissatisfaction - otherwise there is no inpetus to keep buying.* there is no consensus on right and wrong, only preferences and opinions.* the...

Gmood1, where did your "system" link go? Any changes or have you found sonic nirvana?
Why Don't More People Love Audio?
Here's one explanation.Should a good system sound bad with bad recording? Is hi-end audio as it exists today relevant to what most people listen to?
Am I a burning out audiophile????
As I see it, there are too many choices out there. How can anyone possibly find the "Best" system with hundred of speakers and thousands of combinations to choose from.Secondly, each system has it's strengths. Depending on the song, volume, your m...
Boost system performance via isolation?
I should explain. While rollerblocks are directly coupled to the shelf unlike isolation devices like sorbothane, pneumatic, or magnetic levitation; they are still undamped in the horizontal plane.Undamped IMHO, means the CDP rings and adds strange...
Boost system performance via isolation?
I've used rollerblocks and did not like the sound. No one wanted to buy them from me so I guess they are not a popular item.I like ceramic foot sanding stones. Only a couple of bucks and these provided the best sound unless you want to "tweak" the...
what is good sound ?
Theo is an "eargasm" anything like "aural sex"?
Point of diminishing returns
When there are more reasons NOT to buy than TO buy.Meaning spending more money may yield improvements but there are downsides which outweigh the improvements. For example, a bigger amp would have more power but sound quality would be worse due to e...
Which budget SS amps use least Global Feedback?
Ohh, SHORTEST negative feedback loop - 9mm.
Maximum Theoretical Speaker Efficiency
Going with Gs5556 theory of 10% efficient and say, 93 dB. Each doubling of power equals 3dB increase in efficiency. so that would be:20% 9630% 9940% 10250% 10560% 10870% 11180% 11490% 117100% 120dBMy logic is probably pretty messed up BTW.
Which budget SS amps use least Global Feedback?
Agree, older Nelson Pass stuff. Also the 47 Labs stuff or their cheaper gainclone knockoffs, or the $30.00 Sonic Impact "T" amp if you can get by with 10-15 watts.
