Best powered mini monitors w/out sub Here are some Swans. May not fit in your suitcase.http://www.av123.com/diva_m200.shtml
Am I the only one who thinks B&W is mid-fi? Twl, so what is better than B&W? I agreed about the "blanket over the speaker veiling". What speakers can you recommend that are clearer but still play music, not just notes?I'm always searching, thanks for the help.
Should mags review stuff not easily available Hi Unsound. I agree with your point. Without competition there is no reason for the big companies to work harder. But an example for me is a single driver speaker I found. I would like to hear it but then I get deterred from the concept when compar...
Do HDCDs sound terrible on non HDCD players? HDCD is supposed to have a lower noise floor - that is what I was told. So HDCD encoding give a lower noise floor. I'm thinking they should sound better on all machines since generally they are better quality recordings to begin with.
amp/preamp fit with Revel I've heard Revel with Musical Fidelity and it had a similar sound to the Levinson stuff. Very enjoyable.
Speaker recommendation for Rega Mira How about B&W CDM 1 nt or DM 602 series 3?
Best small monitor speaker 4 small room acoustics? Revel puts a lot of effort designing out first wall reflections etc. So they tend to more design out speaker / room interactions that can happen with other speakers. But you may not like their sound.
Nautilus owners upgrade to what? Hi, I heard the Revel F20 and Aerius 6's.I agree, the Aerials are smoother, "warmer" than B&W. They lacked detail and dynamics for my tastes. The Revels were much clearer than B&W. Their lit. says their drivers reduce 2nd and 3rd order harm...
Mini-systems I found the Yamaha MCR-150 (smaller) piano mini system for $169.00 here:http://www.shop.store.yahoo.com/jeffminsky/hometheatre.htmlThis or the Denon are the best I'ver heard but they are typically $400-$700. So this is a real bargain.Since they li...
Does anyone have any impressions of Montana Spkrs? Ehider, interesting link. But no prices. How do you know they are WAAAAAAAY underpriced? Are they even available in USA?
Some thoughts about value in high-end audio You can buy a pretty nice appliance for $400. A really nice Neptune washer for $1,000 (?). A huge 3 ft x 6 ft TV at Tweeters Etc. for $2,000. A leather couch for $1,500.What does $400 get in audio? A VERY entry level floorstanding speaker. Just on...
Class A/B switching cause sonic problems? Hi Bob. I guess I'm not totally clear on A/B amps. So you're saying the amp will switch even even I kept volume levels low so not to go above 1 watt output on the power amp? Aren't these amps supposed to put out class "A" for the first watt? Then ...
How does one get off the merry-go-round? I am FAR from being off the merry go round but anyhow..... * KNOW WHAT YOU WANT **If you aren't sure what you want how will know when you've found it? If there is something blantantly wrong in your current setup then there's an obvious fix.I want ...
Best Inexpensive Tuner? I asked Don Scott exactly what he does when he mods tuners and / or for spec's (Sensitivty, Selectivity etc.).Never got a response. Maybe he's too busy. But I would want to know exactly what measured improvements to expect before paying out money.
Best sound at Stereophile show. What was wrong with Thiel / Musical Fidelity??Not on anyone's list at all. I thought it was really good for the price. Von Schweikert was good but pricey and lacked weight - not noticeable in small room with 5 speakrs though.Joseph's $20K was good... |
