Zu audio @scott_w I think a fair amount of deliberation and waffling is expected before a substantial purchase. Last thing I want is buyer’s remorse. I’m starting with some acoustic treatments first while I avoid commitment, and early next year I’ll most ...
Zu audio Nano is just a term describing scale. A nanometer is one billionth of a meter. Structures on that scale are described as nanoscale. Nano particle coatings shouldn’t bother you any more than using a microfiber cloth to clean your speakers. It’s a n...
Oppression within the speaker industry and how it can be stopped? Any suggestions?Hunger strike?Marching and protests?A sternly worded letter expressing disappointment?Armed insurrection?Suicide bombers?Ask to speak to a manager?A well aimed raspberry?
Spend my money What’s your room like? Have you looked at acoustic treatments? Is your chair comfy enough? Do you need a rack to better organize things? Do you need to reposition your layout? How about a headphone stand? Do you have a decent surge protector so yo...
Are cable recommendations worth anything? I can tell you unequivocally, without any reservations, that you should definitely use cables. Most things after that are going to be personal preference or budget. I once had a salesman suggest a cable that cost more than the component it was conn...
Flat screen between speakers, again. And I forgot the obvious one. All things considered it might be best to treat the room first, and then get a motorized TV lift cabinet.
Flat screen between speakers, again. I’ve recently researched this subject. It seems a lot of people with elaborate solutions eventually end up leaving it off permanently.I just replaced my TV and had the wall bare for a few days. I did notice a slight improvement in soundstage stage...
Can an “audiophile” ever be satisfied with a system? I don’t think “satisfied” and wondering if you can do better are mutually exclusive. To me “satisfied” has connotations of a value proposition. If you get the same sound with $50k that you did from $5k then that would be problematic. The sound you...
Have speakers really improved within the last 20 years?? I think I’ve got a line on this conspiracy theory now. We're all blowing it. The cover up isn’t that speakers haven’t been improving and the industry is lying to us. Speakers have definitely been getting better. The conspiracy is that this is bein...
Preamp suggestions again with size considerations The Node 2i puts out about 2V with the volume fixed. The Mani (and most phone stages) outputs much less. I only know what I’ve read about anything phono though. With the gain on your amp I think you’d only get about 1W with the 300mV maximum expec...
Preamp suggestions again with size considerations What are your sources? The input sensitivity of the Aleph J is 1.5V for full 25W output with an 8 ohm load. If you’re using a digital source you probably are at 2V so you may not actually need any gain.
Have speakers really improved within the last 20 years?? Ignoring the obvious repetitive trolling and knowing full well that I will regret engaging....If you really want to know, then perhaps you should do your own research and better define parameters. Are we interested in cost no object, SOTA offering...
Pre to meet 2021 goals @hilde45 I hope you post a link to your paper once you’re done. I for one would like to read it. Like most hobbies, I’m sure there’s a gamut of approaches and motivations based on each individual’s background, perceptions, resources, and skill set...
I knew room treatments were in my future. I wonder how many people have purchased expensive treatments and tweaks only to find they just needed to clean their ears.
Covering a TV behind your speakers? I sometimes watch movies through my 2 channel system (no HT) so the TV is mounted on the wall between the speaker that are pulled out into the room several feet. I just started looking into this while planning some room treatments. I wasn’t sure h... |
