Anyone else using slugs instead of fuses? Comments on metals used and sound please
@celtic66 I watched a couple of episodes of lost in space the other night.  The robot wan't even in them so I looked it up and the robot only says "Danger Will Robinson" once and that wasn't until the 3rd season.

@jacobsdad2000 yes, that is all it does, replaces the main power fuse.  Most amps only have one fuse.  What other fuses are you thinking of?
Tube amplifier - tube bias and time to warm up
To use a multimeter in the current mode it must be in series.  voltage probes are in parallel.  very few people have ever used a multimeter in current mode.   Bias currents are very seldom set in the current mode.  Generally there is a 1 ohm res...

For those of you that find this thread shocking, consider instead the Swiss digital fuse box that replaces the fuse by a magnetically controlled relay and gets rid of 98% of the negative effects of a fuse. Jerry
Looking for an all-in-one just-add-speakers streamer for my son to take to college
If you want your son to be cool, send him with seperates.  If you want him to be bland, send an all-in-one. I remember when I was in college salivating over Nakamichi tape decs, Marantz amps, separate turntables and FM tuners.  And oh the equali...

Not yet.  I've been traveling.  Going mountaineering this weekend and then I should settle in for some controlled listening.  I want my ears tuned to what I'm used to before I slip them in.
10 gauge power cord. Too much power for tube amp?
@moonwatcher indeed milliohms (or less) and but we are talking about milliamps or less but they are changing over a time of picoseconds....how does this all add up? It is beyond my detailed understanding of electricity and if I didn't have a full...

This thread will get deleted.  People can't deal with probabilities so they think you're an idiot.  You'll have to keep your ideas to yourself and just enjoy the improved sound.  Their loss   Jerry
10 gauge power cord. Too much power for tube amp?
@moonwatcher power cables have mediocre connectors and stranded wire for flexibility soI like to go one size bigger on my power cable than the wire in the wall--except my dedicated circuit is 10 awg from the breaker box so I use 10 awg power cords...
10 gauge power cord. Too much power for tube amp?
There are many posts here that assume that small tube amps don't need a heavy power cord.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  I hooked up a 6 wpc tube amp to a stock 14 awg power cord and was disappointed with the bass.  Assumed it was just...
DAC USB Hum
This is what gives USB a bad reputatiom among those who spend much money to avoid it at all cost, poor implementation in less espensive DACs.  My Innuos Zenith MK3 is designed around USB and performs great with Chord DACs and MScaler.   There are...

no.  and no that won't fix your problem. large power cords are necessary to support relatively subtle improvments in sound.  the amp will run fine on any power cord. Jerry
10 k speaker setup. 5.1
Like @ghdprentice strongly implies, this doesn't sound like a formula for success.  I'll add that wall mounted speakers are quite the compromise for HT.  I have 3 large pairs of floorstanders in my HT room for front, mids, and rears. Jerry
