Returns
@mulveling I 100% agree with you but i'm not sure I haven't gotten returns when buying new.   I have never gotten something that didn't work so I have never complained but sometimes they seem to be resealed.  Of course the factory might have reali...
Network optimization for serious streamers
@thyname thanks.  That should be what I get for and extra $480/yr.  I'm contemplating it. Jerry

@thyname What is your download speed? Cox and Spectrum are probably about the same. Verizon FIOS isn’t available here. ATT has a fiber option available with a whopping 50Mbs claimed speed. the wireless (5G) options probably all suck because Cal...
Update on good Ethernet switch
@audioman58  thanks. Not warm means it isn’t generating much heat, which is a good thing.
What's your DAC's sweet spot for sampling rates?
DAVE DAC with M-scaler.  I find I listen mostly at 176.4Hz.   It is a few years old.   The M-scaler claims much higher upsampling rates but I like the sound here. I will say that when I first got my M Scaler I was streaming wirelessly.  I hated ...
Can a better power cable make a difference if NOT plugged directly into an outlet?
BTW, I mentioned "even a generic Chinese cable will get you most of the way there".   Sorry but I forgot to mention that you have to reterminate them.  If you are the kindof guy that does this, you'll be pretty good for cheap.  If not, try ice ag...
Network optimization for serious streamers
@thyname I see (not that Jerry) in this thread and I'm not sure what Jerry they are talking about.  Glad it isn't me. My ISP is Spectrum Cable.  Obviously if you want cable internet you either take the cable provider in your neighborhood or move....
Update on good Ethernet switch
@audioman58  Thanks for your post.  Not sure I followed it all but I appreciat it.    I have one question.  How warm does it run.  I'm becoming intolerant of the new brand of audio components with supercaps and high current chargers that run very...
Surge protector/conditioner for vintage system
No difference between a vintange and a modern system as far as need for ready current. NEVER use a surge protector on an amp.  they limit current flow. If you can't swing a $5k regnerator, then plug directly into a wall.  Unplug when storms come...
Swiss Digital Fuse Box - "What headroom sounds like"
Everyone associates fuses with fire. that can be the case but not usually. Fuses can be implemented for 3 things: 1. Fire protection. they are required by codes for that reason. 2. Equipment protection. 3. Financial protection. Most fuses in s...
Left Channel Blues
This is a tube amp.  You should always suspect a bad tube first when the gremlins visit.  Lots of options for swapping components. I'd probably just swap left and right channel tubes. If the problem moves, then it is a tube.  I'd then swap tubes...
Network optimization for serious streamers
Thanks @thyname  I was looking quickly this morning before I left the house for my hike.  I'll probably go GHz soon.  The cable company says I'll need an upgraded modem.  Maybe if I go Ghz and then if I don't see the benefit go back to 300Mhz, I'...
Network optimization for serious streamers
@lalitk thanks for your reply. I don’t see in the literature any reference to streaming rates. It is an Innuos Zenith MK3, nearly new, so I assume it will support GHz streaming. Jerry
Network optimization for serious streamers
I have 300MBS internet. I can upgrade to 500 for $240/yr or 1g for $480/yr. everything I read says 300 is more than enough. I stream music, an occasional 4k movie, and normal computer use. I use Microsoft teams for meetings and don’t game. My aud...
