Inexpensive speaker cables: any experience?
Speaker cables aren't rocket science.   Lots of inexpensive cables sound great.  At least 99% of the very expensive one.  You need: 1.  good copper 2.  heavy gauge wire 3.  good connections 4. Good connectors. These are 14 ga which is a littl...
Car streaming blues, ain’t marketing great
I'm shopping for a new car.  Volvo isn't on my list but audi is.   One reviewer said the Bowers and Wilkens stereo on the Volvo is better than the B&O in the Audi which I am looking at. Sounds like your HK system is the consumer grade system ...
$100K system build - % breakdown of spend
@ghdprentice  "I recommend you start by reading Robert Haley’s Complete Guide to High End Audio." Is that available on audiobook?  :-)
BIG difference Tidal vs Amazon Music
Not familiar with Amazon but did use Tidal for a while. Left tidal for reasons other than music quality. Don’t know what you’re experiencing but Tidal is basicly CD quality.  Generally there is not much "better" from what tidal provides.  I’m gue...
Would you pay more than 25% of MSRP for a used cartridge?

Choice between two different integrated tube amps (SET & PP)
I gave a general endorsement of SET above but I think SNS has some great comments about tube choice, heat and power. With your very efficient speakers you don't need 48 wpc.  20 is plenty.  LM makes a lot of SET amps with a variety of different t...

Looking for small active STEREO speakers I can throw in a carry on bag and travel with
I wouldn't call them "audiophile" but I am happy with Audioengine HD3s on my desk.
who in SoCal does Av Receiver and Amp upgrades?
A friend just had work done on his Levinson at George Meyer AV in LA with good, but not inexpensive, results.
Preamp with balanced out, HT bypass, remote for AR monoblocks
HT bypass can be tough. I just went through this. Ended up with an Ayon. A lot of audiophiles and manufacturers look down their nose at this. You should have a separate theatre room. 😏 Here is a list of amps/preamps with HT bypass. Note it isn’t ...
Preamps with digital output
Sound like you're wiring up a 60's phone junction cabinet.  I think you are making it much harder than necessary. Seen all digital signals to your DAC.  DAC to Preamp or integrated.  Integrated to your speakers.
Atma-Sphere vs. Supratek
@bassdude So we agree. :-) Enjoy your M60s.
DACs oh my!
I think a good DAC is the most important step you can take in this digital world.
Wireless vs. Ethernet for Streaming
I have a good mesh wifi system.  It works well.  I stream qobuz over roon.  I consider it an interim measure until I can figure out how to run an ethernet wire across two doorways and around an exposed corner. I do get occasionally (perhaps once ...
Atma-Sphere vs. Supratek
@bassdude   Maybe you just mis-typed but Atma-sphere claims their amps are NOT Futterman design, that the Futterman Design gave OTL amps a bad name with it's instability, and that no company has ever marketed a Futterman circuit amp and not gone o...
