Power cord? Why?
The only one who can convince you is you. To those who say, "Convince me", I say, "Sorry, I'm too busy." I don't particularly care whether you can hear the difference a power cord makes, or not.But to those who are interested in learning, I say, "...
Carpet or hardwood floor?
I've got wall to wall carpet plus underpad, and I've received a lot of compliments on how my system sounds. I've made ZERO effort on room treatments to this point...so I'd recommend a carpet.
Can I get "Great" used speakers for $1800??
I second the M20s, new or used in good condition.Nrchy, you got a 16,000 speaker for 1100!? Sure, if he can find a deal like this, he's got great speakers for less than 1800 but this is most likely quite rare.
Digital Room Correction: The Final Frontier?
Rives, from what you are saying, your product would work with DVD-A and SACD formats as well as vinyl (while the TACT would not)--true?
help from revel enthusiasts please
My personal opinion, based on the prices of both these speakers NEW: no, the upgrade is not worth it. The M20s are an amazing value...the Gems did not 'blow me away', as they should have for well over 3 times the price.I should add that I listened...
The truth about interconnects - can you handle it?
Any article posted under a title such as 'The truth about interconnects' deserves to be ignored. The effects of interconnects on sound are subtle and vary depending on the situation. A blanket claim to the 'truth' is absurd.
PS Audio vs Bel Canto vs Musical Fidelity shootout
Nice review, including the bits about build quality and warranty. How about more detail on direct comparison of these amps, or of just the HCA2, with your JC1s?
Revel M20 or Meadowlark Shearwaters?
I have not heard the Shearwaters, but own the M20s. The M20s are excellent speakers: neutral, extended highs, good midbass, detailed. I've got mine 18" from the back wall--no problems in my room, but my room is fairly large and well damped, so YMM...
Thoughts on Legacy Whisper Speakers
Legacy themselves say that the Whispers are much more placement insensitive than most speakers. If that's true, why do so many of you say that a big room is needed?? I'm concerned about this, since I'm also thinking about the Whispers but have onl...
Electrocompaniet EMC 1UP vs.LInn Ikemi vs.DAC 64
Thsalmon, how is the Chord DAC 64 in comparison with your Sony XA 777 by itself (no DAC)? I'm considering upgrading from the MF A324, which does not seem to be a big improvement over the XA777 on CDs.
which headphones???
As stated by other posters, the Sennheiser HD600 is a good all-around headphone; but to get the best out of it, replace the stock cables (easy with the Senn) with Cardas or Equinox, and get a good dedicated headphone amp. The Cosmic, Earmax Pro an...
RM7si-II or Revel M20 or .....need help please
Yes, the Revels are rear-ported but have an adjustment control for stand or shelf-mounting. I use the stand-mounting option without any bass boominess. I don't think this control will make a big difference...the deciding factor is likely to be the...
RM7si-II or Revel M20 or .....need help please
No experience with the RM7si--however I own a pair of M20s with a somewhat tweaked system (Audio Magic Stealth, VD + Cardas AC cords, Bryston pre, Ps Audio amp). My speakers are no more than 18" from the wall behind them--less actually since one i...
Review: Virtual Dynamics Nite Power Cord
Keep posting your impressions. These cables have got some very good reviews elsewhere and I want to hear more.
B&W N805 vs. Revel M20
I auditioned both and preferred the M20. It seemed to have superior treble and very impressive midbass.
